Fiona Gribben, my wife & best friend, died this morning. The last two years have had too much pain & sadness. But also great moments of love, fulfilment & kindness. We are lost without her.

Please @bbcradioulster - the two child limit does *not* impact child benefit - as Chris Buckler just said. It is applied to the child element of UC. It's so important to responsibly report on this. People's child benefit will not be impacted by today's announcement.

Tory shadow NI Secretary Alex Burghart says it's 'very important' that the UK state doesn't take a sides in border poll. He also says Ireland should be neutral in the event of a referendum. He made the comments to @csbuckler in a BBC podcast newsletter.co.uk/news/politics/…

It is the honour of my career to announce that I will be part of Virgin Media’s broadcast team for the historic first NFL Dublin Game in Croke Park along with the NFL London Games this season. All I have ever wanted was an opportunity to reach the next level — and trust me when I say I do not take this lightly. On a personal level, I want to leave a lasting legacy for this game on our island and to ensure that the island of Ireland continues to thrive with this incredible sport. Every fan across this island deserves the very best in bespoke coverage — and we’re going to do whatever it takes to bring you exactly that. The NFL Dublin Game on @VMSportIE will be the first televised game with a full Irish broadcast production since the 1990’s on RTÉ — and this is an incredible milestone for the game here. For the first time in London Games history, an Irish broadcast production will bring fans closer to the action at a key time for the leagues growth around the world. To the hundreds of people who have opened doors for me over the past few years, thank you - you know who you are. @Jeff_Reinebold got the ball rolling on taking my love for American Football to the next level, pushing me professionally - beyond an amazing friendship. Jeff deserves a very special mention. Without him, I would not be here. It’s been an incredible journey and along with many others such as @neilreynoldsnfl, @Phoebe_Schecter and @JasonBell33 , who have taken time to tour this island, I will never forget the friendship and guidance that continues to be shown to this very day. It was an honour to add @FitzMagic_14 to that list earlier this year. It would have been so easy for someone to not lend a helping hand, but so many did the opposite. Each small token of kindness and mentoring has led me to this moment. To my family and my incredible wife Lynn who has stood by my side in what has been an unbelievably challenging few years of hard work and personal sacrifices on so many levels, your support means the world. When it was easy to walk away, put the head in the sand, so many have pushed me on to just keep going. My employers have also been a huge support — thank you, folks. To anyone who has ever interacted with what we do online or attended an event, to the ENTIRE PFI team (I’ve had Hogans head wrecked!) and to Dan and the entire Rooney Family and all associated with the Pittsburgh Steelers - thank you. To various partners over the last five years, namely Iris/TG4 and the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, along with the Mahon family and everyone at The @PatMcAfeeShow who helped elevate everything we do, thank you. Never, ever give up. If you have a small podcast or dream of making it to the next level, let this be a sign that it is possible. If you had told me on February 7th 2010 when I watched this game for the first time in a dorm room in Belfast that this would be happening (SB XLIV)…. It is just an amazing, fulfilling feeling looking back and realising how far this journey has taken its course. Work hard, push yourself and more importantly — believe in yourself. To any Irish or International NFL fan reading this, I promise you I won’t let you down. This is only the beginning. I cannot tell you how excited I am to bring this to you, along with a superb team of people. I’ve publicly stated for a long time the importance of having our own Irish coverage of the NFL. This is a huge first step and it is on all of us to ensure that this continues to grow. My sincere thanks to all within the NFL and Virgin for making this a reality. The attention and care that the league has shown towards the island of Ireland, especially in the past 12/18 months is incredible. The thought of 76,000 people attending Croke Park for the game that I love is the ultimate reward for so many who have pushed for this moment. Go raibh míle maith agat. Bring it on. ___ 2025 NFL Dublin Game: Sunday September 28th on Virgin Media One from 13:30
