Ranking Member of the Defense Appropriations Committee Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN, @BettyMcCollum04) reacts to the Pentagon's request for more than $200 billion to aid the Iran war effort: "The President chose, on his own, to go to war with Iran and spend very expensive munitions, and turns around and says to congress 'here's the bill.' That's not how it works. There's going to have to be a lot of hearings and a lot of explanations."

George Mason's Jamil Jaffer (@jamil_n_jaffer, @MasonNatSec) discusses the threat Iran posed to homeland security before last month's U.S. and Israeli-led strikes devastated Iran's nuclear capabilities. "If a bully keeps punching your kid on the playground … the next day, that bully is still an imminent threat to your child, right? … One day, your child fights back and wins. Guess what? That bully isn't going to bother him anymore, and neither are the rest of the bullies. … Imminence doesn't mean that something has to have changed, it means: is there a threat to us right now that's real? And I would say, with Iran, there is a very real threat from Iran."

Amidst the ongoing conflict in Iran, Rep. Sam Liccardo (D-CA) spoke on the resignation of counterterrorism official Joe Kent and whether he agrees with Kent's criticism of the war. @RepLiccardo: "I do think that there are plenty of reasons why this decision to enter this war was a bad idea. And the first and foremost is this president did not define a clearly achievable objective in going into this war."

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (@RepLuna) says she's part of a coalition of fellow House members that would refuse to pass any bills coming from the Senate until they pass the SAVE America Act: "The Senate will not get any of their legislation passed. We have, literally, a group of babysitters that are going to be watching the [House] floor and we are blocking everything from the Senate until this gets done."

As the Senate begins debate on the controversial SAVE America Act, @AEI senior fellow John Fortier discusses who the act targets, and the proof of citizenship aspect included in the act. "We don't know exactly how many people are registered to vote who are non-citizens, and how many vote, but we have good estimates that it’s a relatively small number. … I wish we had used the massive moves we made the last ten years to getting people Real IDs … in a way that gets to the voting system."
