Ernie Shore Field, Winston-Salem, NC Before Wake Forest redid it, it was pretty antiquated and nothing objectively special. But gosh I’ve got such great memories at that place.

@Marshmutt452 @BaseballQuotes1 Pete said in his autobiography that at some point in the 90s (I forget exactly when) he wondered if he was a jinx because Skip kept getting calls like Sid’s Slide, the WS clinch, etc, and Pete kept getting final outs of eliminations 😩

@cstiles24 @BaseballQuotes1 With four announcers, for some e reason, it seems like Skip always drew the lucky buck for getting to make the calls on the most iconic plays.

If you ever want to tell someone about Kyle Busch’s ability as a NASCAR driver… In 2020, there was a $100,000 “Kyle Busch Bounty” in a NASCAR Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Legendary.

When Kyle Busch ran — and won — the O’Reilly and Truck series nearly every week, me & Mom had a running gag at Sunday lunch: “Guess who won the (ORS/Truck) race?” “Kyle?” “Yep” That was, admittedly, from an eyerolly place. But gosh I never thought those days were over. #RIP

every day is a privilege and today is a truly sad reminder of that. this little boy in this picture hated you on sunday’s. but he loved to hate you, and you made it very difficult to hate and not become a fan when your passion for racing showed, when you would show up to his home town to race at his home tracks. he will be forever grateful for that. from a fan, to a hater, to a competitor, to a teammate, and to even maybe a friend. i share that story because this little kid in the picture was not anywhere near the true number that you impacted for the better just through racing. you will be deeply missed. both on the race track, but certainly off. RIP. 🕊️
