While other dads were teaching their kids how to change tires, you were dropping global hits and teaching the world how to “Essence” their way through life. Being the child of a musical genius comes with perks and plot twists. Most kids get bedtime stories. I got lullabies in pidgin mixed with smooth Afrobeats that had the whole neighborhood vibing till 2 AM. You’d come home from tour, jet-lagged but still glowing, and say, “Omo, how far?” before launching into an impromptu studio session in the living room. The furniture became percussion instruments, the dog was the backup singer, and I was the official hype man yelling “Starboy!” at the top of my lungs. You taught me valuable life lessons only a musician dad can deliver. “Never dull moment” became our family motto. Bad day? Play “Joro” and suddenly the problem is dancing away. Heartbreak? You’d remind me, “There are plenty fish in the sea… but make sure they get the visa first.” And don’t get me started on your fashion game — I inherited the drip but not the confidence to wear half the outfits you pull off. Those sunglasses indoors? Iconic. Those statement pieces that cost more than my future rent? Pure fatherly wisdom: “Dress like you’re already winning.” Of course, there are the classic dad moments too. You still try to “help” with my playlists by adding 15 of your unreleased tracks. You call every beat “fire” even when it’s just me humming in the shower. And let’s not forget the time you tried to explain cryptocurrency to me using Only One lyrics — I still don’t understand money, but I now know how to vibe to it. Dad, you’re more than the awards, the sold-out shows, and the international collabs. You’re the guy who shows up with love, rhythm, and that infectious Starboy energy even after months on the road. You turned our house into a celebration of culture, beats, and good times. You made fatherhood sound like a hit single — catchy, unforgettable, and impossible not to dance to. Most times, it means you won't make money, but you'll be able to sleep because your conscience is clear and you wake up holding the full measure of your integrity. To make money in this world, most times, you need to dead your conscience. It is a dog eat dog world. The whole point of living right, is because it is right, not because it will fetch you money. Many times, it won't because you convince yourself that all money is not good money. That is the consequences of making the right action. The world system itself rewards ruthlessness. If you get caught and punished- that is consequences. If you never get caught, and you live large - that is consequences. Actions have consequences- you just never know which one is yours.
