For all those that have been following Zeus’ journey over the past 11 years he’s been a pivotal part of our channel, stream and brand. Sometimes so much I think you were there to see him on camera instead of listening to me yap. Behind the scenes though he’s always been much more than that. I’m a veteran that at times has struggled with anger, irritability, depression and letting my heart and mind heal. Zeus was a healing potion. A beacon of love and joy in my life. Anytime depression tried setting roots in my head I could just lean on him and have a good manly cry and the weight of the world would lift. Today I decided to offer him the same peace he’s given me. The cancer was moving too quickly and his quality of life was in sharp decline. He didn’t know why he hurt and didn’t feel good. He didn’t know why he had to go potty every hour and couldn’t have a solid movement for a month. When our animals hurt, we hurt. It’s such a helpless feeling. Both for owner and pet. We gave him an amazing day of lake activities and let him eat everything you’re not supposed to! He had burgers fries a wrap and toast. He jumped in the lake and cooled off and I think drank half of it down. He got to see many of his friends and those that have helped take care of him when I’ve been on mission. He was smiling and even ornery in the end! The vet tech tried to give him a chocolate cookie and he refused. I like to think he said “dad says no candy from a stranger”. Because when I gave it to him he gobbled it down! I love that boy and he loved me. RIP Zeus. Go easy across that rainbow bridge.
