The bottom images (the “before” look) are more cinematic. Not because they’re flashier, but because they’re doing what film actually does: controlled restraint. The top version is warmer, slightly more saturated, leaning into orange skin tones and a cleaner, more “consumer-friendly” image. It feels processed to be liked. The bottom version pulls that warmth back, introduces cooler green-blue undertones, softens the highlights, and slightly mutes the saturation. That shift does something subtle but powerful, it creates emotional ambiguity. Cinema thrives on that tension. When colors aren’t screaming at you, your brain starts leaning in instead of leaning back. Look at Harry’s face: the top version feels safer, almost nostalgic, like a memory that’s been polished. The bottom version feels colder, more observational, like you’re watching a story unfold rather than being comforted by it. Same with Hagrid: the warmer grade makes him feel approachable; the cooler grade adds grit, unpredictability, a little danger. And that staircase shot? The bottom version compresses the light, deepens the shadows, and gives you that “London gloom” texture that actually sells the environment. The top one looks like a tourism ad; the bottom one looks like a film. Cinematic color grading isn’t about making things pretty, it’s about controlling mood, contrast, and psychological distance. The “before” (bottom) images understand that. They trade warmth for tension, saturation for realism, and clarity for atmosphere. That’s why they hit harder.

Incredible work by @Sozeiga, who completely regraded the Harry Potter trailer to match the films’ iconic look.

@javier078 You ain’t getting good $1 DVDs anywhere these days. Resale shops and thrift stores have been raising their prices just as much as everywhere else. I’ve seen used discs up to $20.

Javo, Lack of surprises
There is a misguided idea that physical media is not affordable. There is not a rule that says.. you need to spend 25 dollars a disc to have a physical media collection. You can buy DVD’s, Bluray’s even 4K UltraHD movies between 1 to 10 bucks (depending on the title).

@javier078 He has a terrible argument. The same average people he’s talking about overpay for Netflix, Spotify, and possibly a gaming subscription. Like you mentioned you can get plenty of DVDs for dirt cheap. I just got the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air complete series for $30…..

@MustangMan_TX California drivers are the fucking worst. Most entitled wankers on the road who drive like they know how to drive but they don’t. And they ALL drive like this. Impatient assholes. All of them.

@00JACKK00 @JKBOGEN I bought an Xbox 360 slim over a year ago for $15 with the intention of modding it but I failed miserably lol I gave up and didn’t even bother to put the console back together. It’s still in pieces in a box in my garage. Eventually I’ll get back to trying to mod it again lol

@RealEmirHan My biggest issue with this scene is there’s literally a ticking time bomb that can destroy the whole city and yet you got Batman standing around listening to her drawn out speech.

Christopher Nolan may have done cinematic masterpieces, but even he couldn’t save this death scene. Marion Cotillard said: “I couldn’t find the right position… I was stressed. Sometimes it happens, we screw something up. And this, I screwed up."

@returns59092 @itsbybanshee Agreed! I’ve been saying this for a while now. Roman is an aurora farmer. He is mediocre at best without the bloodline and Paul Heyman.

@HDMOVIESOURCE This is why I’ve opted for the standard blu rays on new releases as of late. Not enough contrast or color depth to justify paying more for the 4k version.

Lucy looks incredible because the color grading is bold, rich, and perfectly balanced. The contrast is crisp without crushing detail, giving every frame real depth. It looks natural. It's lit as though it was shot on film, but super clean digital. It’s one of the best examples of modern color grading done right, unlike so many movies today. If you've never seen it, check it out HDR, it looks sensational! I want more movies lit and color graded like this. #ColorGrading

Little secret. Someone starting a Twitter war with you is actually amazing for your account and in my case website. I love when some dumbass falls for it — each & every time and when they attempt to cancel me, only giving me tons of free advertising. Folks, just don’t do it. 🤣

The incident happened Dec 31st, two days after Nacua and the Rams lost on MNF to the Falcons and roughly 2 weeks after they lost to the Seahawks, which was when his antisemitic livestream occurred. There’s a picture of the bite marks, and no denial that part happened.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: A woman in Los Angeles claims Puka Nacua made an antisemitic comment, and later bit her so hard he broke her skin ... allegations the Rams superstar says are total BS. Details: tmz.me/MsCTJnn

@CerealMidnight I figured because everything you described about tropes is exactly how Top Gun Maverick is but yet it just works. General audiences will eat this movie up because these tropes that you talked about have been tried and true since forever. It’s why F1 works so well too.

@d12dan12 No, I didn't. I know why people like it, but these roller coaster movies don't do much for me beyond the initial thrill of seeing spectacle. They are a necessary part of the movie economy, but I'm glad there are other kinds of movies with more meat on the bones.
