Many people have said I should have titled the book "All Your Face Are Belong To Us." Good news! @OblongBooks is making it happen. I will cross out the title, replace it with the meme brain version & autograph it. Get your personalized version here: oblongbooks.com/your-face-belo…

IMO this is where US election is headed. At least one Midwest/swing state will be close. It will be contested. Claims of fraud, hacked machines, etc. But this time, revolt might be through state legs via electors. For dems another reason to pick Shapiro (Whitmer if ur bold)

Hence JdV, who in 2020 floated the idea of state legislatures in contested states appointing oppositional sets of electors. If it went to plan, this circumvents typical lawsuits/governor cert/AG/state court (eg, 2001) and transfers decision to SCOTUS and House. Home turf.

Nothing new here, but democratic strategists (still) seem to have difficulty understanding it's not a popularity contest. It's not a meme-off. Or a cringepageant. It's a board of directors proxy vote...with the ousted edgelord-in-chief's breath fogging up the outside window.

@schneierblog this was the sort of culmination of a "David" vs "Walter" Android argument about AI adhering to moral frameworks.

Long story short, there are obvs lists everywhere to test and rank these in a myriad of ways, but this was the hardest I have ever seen it work.

"...a fascinating but highly complex challenge. The constraints involve using an esoteric programming language, arbitrary precision arithmetic, and non-standard hardware (a human brain-powered computer), which makes it practically infeasible to create a fully working solution."

THE TECHNO-OPTIMIST MANIFESTO part 1 “You live in a deranged age — more deranged than usual, because despite great scientific and technological advances, man has not the faintest idea of who he is or what he is doing.” — Walker Percy “Our species is 300,000 years old. For the first 290,000 years, we were foragers, subsisting in a way that’s still observable among the Bushmen of the Kalahari and the Sentinelese of the Andaman Islands. Even after Homo Sapiens embraced agriculture, progress was painfully slow. A person born in Sumer in 4,000BC would find the resources, work, and technology available in England at the time of the Norman Conquest or in the Aztec Empire at the time of Columbus quite familiar. Then, beginning in the 18th Century, many people’s standard of living skyrocketed. What brought about this dramatic improvement, and why?” — Marian Tupy “There’s a way to do it better. Find it.” — Thomas Edison Lies We are being lied to. We are told that technology takes our jobs, reduces our wages, increases inequality, threatens our health, ruins the environment, degrades our society, corrupts our children, impairs our humanity, threatens our future, and is ever on the verge of ruining everything. We are told to be angry, bitter, and resentful about technology. We are told to be pessimistic. The myth of Prometheus – in various updated forms like Frankenstein, Oppenheimer, and Terminator – haunts our nightmares. We are told to denounce our birthright – our intelligence, our control over nature, our ability to build a better world. We are told to be miserable about the future.

I supposed the deeper in the Anderson world you are, the more rewarding. People who are new to the cult are likely to be frustrated, because in essence, it's a patchwork of interactional microcosms that never meaningfully converge /4

Schwartzman's performance is epic. Same with Maya Hawke and Tom Hanks. And every single young actor. And Liev Schreiber. /3
