To your point, with the addition of multiple teams over the last few years (including 2 this year) there are more roster spots, therefore it increases the odds of staying on a roster as the 13th pick. That said, it's still a low value pick, it's not the NFL. The 28th pick in the NBA is seen similarly as well. Again, is it possible they get an actual starting caliber player? Sure, all star ? Maybe, since like 30% of the league is an 'all star', but anything after that like all wnba or frnachise cornerstone? Extremely unlikely. At BEST, they traded AR for some rotation players, it's just not the value that people projected. You are arguing that the 1% chance MIGHT happen. My very original post was open to that possibility. You normally don't trade a franchise player for a 1% chance of 'maybe getting a miracle in the draft'.

As a Lady Vols fan, respectfully, Stanford does not have a shit show happening. They’re only in Year 2 post-Tara, and that matters. Replacing a program-defining coach was never going to be seamless. On top of that, they’re not pulling the same caliber of recruits or transfer talent right now, and Stanford was also late to the NIL game at the university level compared with other major programs. That is not dysfunction. That is a program adjusting to a new era without the advantages some others already had.

If I’m Skylar, I’m signing to the Sky too. She gets $1.2-1.4M, brand new practice facility and no expectations. Probably gets another all-star to add to the resume. In a great city. And she’s close enough to her hometown.
