Everyone keeps bringing up Adam Driver like they could’ve just asked him. There isn’t a single a list actor that would’ve agreed to a 12 year Harry Potter reboot I agree it’s probably a virtue signal higher. It’s stupid to cast someone for that reason. But it’s also stupid to care about an actors skin color unless it’s necessary for the character. Yes, Snape is described as white in the books but that isn’t crucial to his arc at all Btw I would be fine if they rebooted the Equalizer and casted a white guy as Denzel’s character. I don’t care at all about representation I just want a good stories and good film.

@d9ineteen @CoreyWriting Plenty of actors could fit the bill of the character in the original story though, Adam Driver would be decent. This is just done for faux virtue, attention and self-rightous loathing of the source material from "creatives" who can't just make their own popular stories.

Paapa Essiedu is a great actor. I wish they gave him an appropriate role. He is not Snape. Making Snape black transforms the character and story in unsavory and ridiculous ways.
