@Ankaman616 @JosephStash People increasingly treat representations of reality as more meaningful than reality itself "The simulacrum is never that which conceals the truth - it is the truth which conceals that there is none. The simulacrum is true" - Jean Baudrillard

@JosephStash I think the rise of viral clips saying "Famous scene was improvised!" come from people lacking an understanding of what acting is. The idea someone can be talented at pretending feels childish, so things have to be improvised/made real to be more "mature" and conversation worthy

Jimmy Gracey was captured on video falling into the water, and his injuries were consistent with repeatedly hitting the rocks of the breakwater, an autopsy showed. 💔 Searchers pulled his body from a depth of roughly 16 feet, close to the breakwater that separates Port Olimpic from Somorrostro Beach in Barcelona, Spain. The preliminary autopsy report ruled out foul play, which suggests he fell into the water and drowned. Allegedly.

@AlmxndTV what was the skillgap play you made? You had your entire team comming the entire time to help you with the fight. It helps when you have help and arent playing w crap randoms like 80% of the playerbase does cause no one has 3 friends who dont have real jobs and a life nowadays

@dafabulousinc_ @Willyede @Real1_balogun The way it was reported by ornstein was first as a "buy obligation" and then edited to say "buy option". Under expense recognition rules if it's the latter then it would help in deferring payment to the next financial year but not the former x.com/i/status/19615…
David Ornstein@David_Ornstein

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal reach agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Piero Hincapie. Season-long loan from #Bayer04 + buy option. Package worth €52m & 10% sell-on. 5yr deal upon permanent transfer. Set to travel this weekend for #AFC medical @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/65673…

@d_wirele @Willyede @Real1_balogun The binding part is that "obligation" which in Essence is saying you must buy this player even though he is coming to you for free for now. Likewise the income is not recorded for them until the next financial year.

Hincapie signed to be an Arsenal player. The loan was purely for accounting purposes for Arsenal to balance their books and not push their limits with Premier League and UEFA — PSR and FFP. The way the deal was structured gives both clubs the rights to sanction a permanent transfer. Arsenal could say “yes, we are buying whether you want to sell or not, and Leverkusen could say, yes, we are selling whether you want to buy or not”. It's the same thing done with the Raya deal. Put it as a loan move on paper for the finances to appear in the next financial year. He will be the first completed permanent signing of the 26/27 season. So, he's not going back to Leverkusen.

@Willyede @Real1_balogun But if it was binding as described and the liability is booked now then amortisation of the asset would start now which would count to FFP/PSR as it will effect the P/L. That's why it must actually be a contingent liability which would mean Arsenal could in principle walk away

@d_wirele @Real1_balogun It does not involve cash movement and that is what arsenal is trying to avoid. This being a current liability does not affect us in the eye view of FFP

@timstillman_ I get the sentiment and agree with the implication of his talent but this wasn't a "must win game for the title"

When it came down to it and it was 0-0 in a must win game for the title, Arteta turned to Max Dowman and that tells you everything about the boy’s talent.

@AintitThat You could literally make that claim about any media personality. Did Luke Thomas say anything negative about Gervonta Davis’ domestic abuse cases when he was working Showtime prelim shows? Does that make him a whore?

I’ve never had a problem with Luke Thomas before but found his comments way off base about Mike Coppinger. Copp has been one of the only guys consistently breaking news in the sport the last few years and shows like Luke’s and aggregators in the space have drafted off and reacted to Copp’s news. I think he’s severely underestimating Copp’s worth to the day-to-day ecosystem of the sport. I see firsthand how much this guy has to be on the phone to do his job and I don’t think very many people have the capacity to do it.

@JedKMeshew @lthomasnews @morningkombat I’ve followed Luke for like a decade, and he’s NEVER done some shit like this. Lord knows he’s had plenty of beefs over the years, but he kept it all private. I wanna see why Cop said to him. I wasn’t able to find it in my 30 seconds of looking

At the end of the day Eni Aluko MBE is a humble brilliant black queen who is in complete control. If Ian Wright is any kind of man he should respect her for her illustrious England career (more caps and goals than him btw) shame on him
Laura Woods@laura_woodsy

If you want to grow something, you don’t gate keep it. We want to encourage little boys and men to watch women’s football too, not just little girls and women. And when they see someone like Ian Wright taking it as seriously as he does - they follow suit. That’s how you grow a sport.

Liked this piece from @Conor0Neill_ on this PL season having the highest share of goals from outside the box since 2013-14, so asked Mikel Arteta for his thoughts considering how teams have started defending against Arsenal and his tendency to score from range when he was playing

Conor O'Neill@Conor0Neill_

Teams are taking fewer shots from outside the box than ever in the Premier League, yet long-range goals are at their highest since 2013–14. Explored why this is happening: nytimes.com/athletic/70209…
