April 26th, 1998, the Diehard 500. On lap 141 in the tri-oval, War Burton would come up into Dale Earnhardt. This would cause Earnhardt to spin and come down into Bill Elliott. Both Earnhardt and Elliott would then come back across the track and hit the outside wall hard. From the impact and momentum both Earnhardt and Elliott had, it caused them to go up on their sides, Earnhardt would come down almost immediately after being hit by Jerry Nadeau, but Elliott would slide for a little bit and then come back down on all 4 wheels. Due to the track being blocked, other drivers would be involved. Those drivers would be Mark Martin, Randy Lajoie, Kyle Petty, Morgan Shepard, Ken Schrader, Ricky Rudd, Michael Waltrip, Lake Speed, Dick Trickle, Derrick Cope, Chad Little, Bobby Hamilton, Joe Nemechek, Steve Grissom, John Andretti and Rick Mast. Bobby Labonte would go on to win the race.  #nascar #talladega #crash
