Some dogs are not comfortable around children because of their height. Unless one sees all the interaction, you can't say.

Any animal that feels threatened can be set off like that. We don’t even see the beginning of what happened. Just a piece of what happened. I agree it’s the owners fault regardless of what caused this to happen. Owners should have better control of their pets and if their pet is known for being more aggressive, they shouldn’t be walking it around others. I don’t agree any animal should be put down unless they are sick, have rabies, or are deemed to be overly aggressive, can’t be controlled as a pet, and isn’t a wild animal that can be safely put back in it’s habitat.
