Sorry @realDailyWire and @benshapiro you lost me when you made attacking the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints your business model. This is the first time I've ever announced my departure from something so thanks for that too.

There is just something about sleeping next to a 10 inch ar with a 30 round mag that just makes you feel warm and fuzzy... I guess all questions lead to the AR15

@Tim_Walz Tim I have a wild idea: Cut all fraud from your state and stop funding “health care” companies and maybe people’s premiums could go down a little bit???

The Church Security Department sent a letter to local leaders this week asking them to work out safety guidelines with ward councils. Specific guidance that caught my eye: 1. Only unlock certain necessary entrances, and 2. Do active shooter training The letter also included a link to the Church's public training for members on dealing with trespassers, robberies, and active shooters in our meetinghouses. I had no idea this resource existed. Go check it out: churchofjesuschrist.org/tools/help/chu… In the video, we are reminded that all civilian members (even retired offices) are prohibited from carrying firearms on Church property. And when an active duty member is asked to be present to ensure safety, he is not to wear his uniform as a police uniform may lead members to feel unsafe. Later, at the 18:25 mark of the video, we are told that if we can't run or hide, we should attack the shooter with folding chairs and hymnbooks. We've always known the back of the chapel is the part where your family will be the least disruptive. Now I'm thinking maybe it's also the safest part of the chapel. Further away from the primary entrances, easier to run away than the pews, and if worst comes to worst, you have metal objects you can throw or maybe use as a shield. I encourage everyone to watch the video, but I expect they will probably update it in the future as some of the speakers' suggestions don't instill high confidence.

A few months ago during church, my wife asked me why I was looking around the chapel instead of at the speaker. I felt unsettled that day. I was trying to decide how we'd respond depending on which door an attacker might come through. Where would our best exist be? Would hiding the kids under the pews keep them out of sight? If we had to fight, what could we use? My toddler detached the hymnbook holder, I guess that's one option. If you could get a bunch of people swinging metal folding chairs at him? Otherwise what? Everyone throw hymnbooks and cheerios at him? All the brethren in the priesthood know what I'm talking about. My wife thought I was paranoid that Sunday. She doesn't think its so paranoid today. Some wards in our area have decided to assign a few priesthood brethren to close the exterior doors once meetings start and open them from the inside for stragglers only. I'll be interested to see what, if anything, changes in our Church policies over this.
