To help convey the importance of soil topography for management I had a 3D terrain display of the ISU Ag450 farm milled from pink foam board with a CNC router. I then projected bare soil, slope, water direction and more onto the board to create an effective teaching tool.

It’s no secret I’ve not been a fan of covers or fall stripping. I challenged myself hard over the past year to learn more about this system. With what I saw today, I can say I’ve NEVER been more wrong. We achieved our goal, beautiful strips to plant on with covers in between. Still a long way to go, but I love what I’m seeing so far. Shoutout to a fantastic job by @YetterFarmEquip strip freshner. And thank you @WiBeanBag @Diversified_Ag for staying on me to push harder and learn more. This is beautiful. @StripTillFarmr

@TheLastField A lot of different certifications out there. There’s no consistency between any of them and no clear definition of what regen ag is. Some are definitely over promising and under delivering

Anybody in the Regen ag world used Regenified as a third party certification? Pros? Cons? Scam?

@DirtOnMyBoots @visionaryagron1 The same analysis was done back in the 90’s showing that corn only took up 40% of the applied nitrogen. But, that data was buried. Dr. Mulvaney from U of IL has research showing the same. We have a lack of understanding biological systems and rely heavily on chemical systems

@visionaryagron1 Quite honestly it sounds like propaganda. It’s not a coincidence that studies like this are coming out at the same time as a global push to control agriculture.

A VISIONARY LOOK. Recent research out of Minnesota found that over 60% of the N that entered the plant came from soil-derived N, not fertilizer-derived N. That means that 60% of the N utilized by the plant was released from the organic fraction (OM) and not directly taken up from fertilizer applications. It suggests that unused N after harvest and N fixed by growing plants (cover crops) meet a significant amount of the future demand for N rather than applied fertilizer N for the planted crop. Does this mean that historic management practices and rates of N applied affect the future release of plant-available N (PAN)? This is a legitimate question to remember as we forge new approaches to N management.

Does anyone have experience running these Thompson wheels from exapta? If so how to they work compared to yetter twisters? Debating on what to put on a bean planter

Cereal Rye harvest is over… Yields turned out decent for what Mother Nature handed us. We did terminate over 50%of cereals thanks to winter/spring we had… but that’s the beauty of the system that has evolved We have options. The RowCrop head Really shine on down rye

We are finally seeing soil organic carbon effects after 6yrs of replicated treatments at #ProjectLamport. LEFT *subsoiling has reduced it at 0-15cm and RIGHT *cover crops+no tillage has increased it at 15-30cm. No further effects in lower profiles. Field margin as reference only

There’s never been a truer, honest, genuine man as Dave Brandt was, ya know. It was an honor to have met him, worked with him, and called him a friend. I wish our lives would have crossed paths earlier. He taught us all that we could build soils quicker than ever thought. RIP

For those who have run high speed disks- how do you get them to not hop? I have tried shallow, deep, 4.5mph-8.5mph. Putting stuff in float, in constant, etc. cannot get it to make the ground smooth. Feels like you’re going over giant speed bumps when you drive back across it.

@dkopp52 Looked at some beans in the area that’ll need replanted from hail. Some wheat took a hit too but wasn’t too bad

@TylerVreugdenh1 @ChannelSeed @BayerTraits Preach!!! It’s crazy how anxious people get to have delayed emergence and high probability of replant. If crop insurance and seed companies didn’t offer replant, I bet less seed would be planted early

@AbelsFred It’s weed. It stays low to the ground. Doesn’t dry out. No matter how you kill it, it steals nutrients and chokes out crops. Good rye stand can surpress
