Thank you, McKay. You're very brave too. Religions are cults and Mormonism is one of the weirdest of them. A quick reminder of things BYU is most known for: - Disciplining students for for premarital sex after they had reported being a victim of sexual assault. - Expulsion for cohabitation with opposite-sex roommates. - Expulsion for consensual sex with their own fiancée. - Disciplining students for drinking coffee, resulting in the loss of on-campus jobs and disciplinary reviews. Here are some student-athlete examples: - Brandon Davies (Men’s basketball, 2011) – Dismissed for the rest of the season after admitting to premarital sex, right as BYU was having an elite year. - Jake Retzlaff (Football QB, 2025) – Faced a multi-game suspension (reported as seven games) tied to an Honor Code premarital sex violation, and ultimately withdrew/left BYU amid the situation. - Spencer Hadley (Football LB, 2013) – Suspended after saying he violated the Honor Code by drinking alcohol and partying in Las Vegas. - Reno Mahe (Football, late 1990s; discussed publicly in 2011) – A former BYU football star said he was kicked off the team after an Honor Code violation involving premarital sex (he described his girlfriend becoming pregnant). - Six BYU football players (2004) – After an Honor Code review tied to allegations of a party involving sex and alcohol, BYU reported probations, suspensions, and a dismissal; suspended/dismissed players were “kicked out of school and off the team.”

Pretty discouraging that this just keeps happening—no consequences, virtually no public reaction (except from Mormons), and very little effort from the conference, schools, Athletic Directors, etc. to prevent the chants from continuing.

@Mike_Adams_OG @mckaycoppins There are multiple options for education. A BYU education is greatly subsidized by members of the faith. For athletes, even more so. BYU is competitive enough players (and students) have other education options. They don't have to join the faith, just live by standards.

@Mike_Adams_OG @mckaycoppins Other schools with religious codes of conduct include Notre Dame and TCU. Do you think we should be embracing slurs against Catholics or general christianity during a sporting event? How about the military? All military colleges have strict codes of conduct.

@mckaycoppins Let me point out one stat that may be illuminating. Texas Tech had a long standing tradition of throwing out tortillas on the field after the first touchdown. The conference didn't want it. The fans were going to die on that hill. Then the Conference imposed a fine of $100,000.

An argument against AI that I have heard (that I actually agree with) is that it’s not that AI steals IP or art, it’s that it steals it and it’s possible to be stolen/misused on a massive scale. Compared to, say, an individual artist sells a Spider-Man image they sell/make at a comic convention (which is absolutely illegal, but not prosecuted) If a company makes brushes for procreate and they use real paintbrushes to make it so that anyone who has never owned a paintbrush or knows how to use one can use procreate to create paint-style imagery - is that problematic? The paintbrush company gets paid for the purchase of one brush, but thousands of people who buy the brushes can essentially use the original paintbrushes, but the only person that makes money from it is the company selling procreate brushes - not the company that makes the paintbrush. I understand that this is not the exact same thing. The brushstrokes are not IP. But at the end of the day, it’s circumvents the original tool maker, and directs all revenue to the company that captured those brushes digitally. And in that way, there is a similarity. I’m not trying to rage bait. I’m just really curious about where the line is drawn ethically.

@BradEBonham If you can decide to disregard one element of the handbook, then why regard any of them at all. If you read the Book of Mormon, the Lord may need us to either be willing to give up our weapons or lives, or he may need us find a better way to find peace.

What I’m about to say is totally against the church handbook, but you should absolutely conceal carry to church. Yes, I know they prohibit it. But it’s probably the softest target on earth. I know of at least five other people in my ward that carry. I’m assuming there are others as well. Be prepared to protect the flock, even though you’ll likely never need to.
