But calling him the greatest ever because of a Saudi title is forcing the conversation. Saudi football is growing, but it’s not the Premier League, La Liga, or Champions League level. Winning there boosts Ronaldo’s legacy in Saudi Arabia, not the global GOAT debate. You can be the king of Saudi football and still sit behind Messi in world football history. Celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo all you want, he deserves respect for his career. But calling him the greatest player ever because of a Saudi league title is false and misleading.
