@erik_thorvalds It isn’t on. They have to be counted and verified first. I’m sure many of those signatures used PO Boxes which aren’t valid. And other errors that will invalidate. Then the question has to be reviewed by commitee and the courts. May not be completed in time for Oct smith said

They laughed when we started collecting signatures. They mocked us when we hit 100k. Now we’ve blown past the legal threshold. The Independence Referendum is ON. The elites in Ottawa aren’t laughing anymore. The fight of our lives begins. #AlbertaIndependence

It's Alberta, not Canada, that has the best negotiating position--it's Alberta's oil and gas. Ottawa prioritizes its climate change ideology over economics. As long as Alberta remains in Canada, we forfeit our leverage and prosperity.

One of our strongest points of leverage on a Canada-US trade deal? Oil. 🇨🇦🛢️🇺🇸 Adam Waterous, CEO of the Waterous Energy Fund & Executive Chairman of the Stratchcona Resources board of directors, breaks it down on the @RobBreakenridge Show.

@JeffreyRWRath Prove the number are real first. How can you guarantee there won’t be a new “federal” level tax for services that Alberta will have to begin providing. And to replace the funding we get now

Albertans aren't Canadian patriots anymore. They're Alberta patriots. Zero federal income tax CPP/UI cut in half 33-38% take-home pay increase 45% total tax reduction Why wouldn't you vote for that? stayfreealberta.com/how-and-where-… #Ableg

@Michphil1998 Separation of church and state is a good thing. You want the Lord’s Prayer in school send them to a Christian school. Jesus is not more right than Buddha or Allah. And school is supposed to be secular. We are not a Christian nation and don’t want to be

I’m old enough to remember sitting at my desk in grade 2 and reciting the Lord’s Prayer because Canada used to be a majority Christian country and a belief in God was fundamental to who we were as a nation. It was a part of defining who we were, what we stood for and how we were governed. Fast forward 43 years and the Canada I see today is not recognizable. God has been removed from our educational institutions, our government and from society in general as much as possible by the ruling class in Canada because we’re told Canada is a melting pot and a diverse culture. The 10 commandments is a set of principles that if followed ensure stability, peace, unity and cohesion of society. Why would any government want to remove the one principle that could unite the citizens of a country? Why would a government allow a country to be flooded with immigrants who don’t uphold the same values, morals and ethics that the original founders of Canada believed in? Why would a government enact laws that allow violence on our streets to go unchecked and unpunished. That allow violent mentally ill men be placed inside of women’s prisons. That allows drug addicts free rein to ingest drugs in public. That allows immigrants be treated more fairly than the citizens who built this country. That allows the murder and mutilation of its own citizen and call it choice and healthcare. Why would the governing body of Canada do any of these things unless their goal was to destroy the very foundation that built this country?

Alberta has a brilliant future ahead as soon as we cut loose from the rotting corpse of Canada. Canada's a dying communist country. We need to get away from it. No federal income tax. No GST. No Ottawa shutting down our oil industry. Vote for independence. #Ableg

When Newfoundland joining Canada happened, it passed with just 52%. That was enough to bring Newfoundland into Canada. So let’s be honest about what that means. If 52% is enough to join, then 52% is enough to leave. That’s already the precedent, and everybody understands what a clear majority is. If 52% of Albertans vote to leave and we’re told we’re “not allowed,” then what does that actually say about the system? At that point, the decision has already been made by the people. Because if independence is the end goal, you don’t ask permission forever. You get the mandate first. Until there’s a vote, nothing changes. But once there is, everything does.

In Canada, the primary control over Alberta's oil (including ownership, development, exploration, conservation, and management) rests with the provincial government of Alberta, not the Federal govt. Carney acts like he's in control of Alberta's resources. Section 92A of the Constitution Act, 1867 provinces have exclusive legislative authority over the exploration for, development, conservation, and management of non-renewable natural resources (like oil and gas) within their borders.

You don’t realize just how demoralizing Canada is until you start to think about how good a free Alberta could be. We could display beautiful art. We could hire based on competence. We could protect free speech. We could make people equal under the law. Let’s make it happen.
