Just had a patient who’s had 19 sessions of chiropractic treatment (actually paid for by Bupa!) and been told he has a 14mm leg length discrepancy. He’s not better obviously Can we stop with this now. I’m tired of unravelling this BS in clinic, especially on friday afternoon.

@DrJN_SportsMed @damothefrog If your local is Bas, for example, that speciality would be Ortho and Ortho will be responsible for doing that scan and for getting a refusal from neurosurgery.

So i’m sitting with my coffee finishing off my Cauda Equina Syndrome webinar for next week. Pt i saw yesterday texts me - they have lost feeling between their legs & have become incontinent, been up all night with bilateral groin & thigh pain. Legs don’t “feel like their own”

@DrJN_SportsMed To be fair mate, ED is not only the best but also the right route. Always with a letter so there can be no question why they’ve presented there.

remote / phone assessment - so no physical exam possible - electronic letter for handover to ED is best i can do as thing stand - sent straight to A&E. Will try and communicate with ortho/ neurosurg on call .

beware medical communication ‘Chinese whispers’ - pt anxious++ re diagnosis by physio phone triage because of result of (inappropriate) xray ordered by GP for LBP - ‘spondylosis’ becomes ‘spondylitis’, becomes ‘i presume this is ank spond’ in pt referral letter #throwawaycomments
