So Canada's forests are too big to manage, but we better pay our carbon Tax to solve global climate change. Am I understanding that correctly?

@Minoritywhite11 The carbon tax on individuals was cancelled last year even though most except the richest and worst polluters got rebates. Carbon taxes have been shown to be a fair and helpful way to reduce emissions but ignorance and RW parties made it too political.

@Minoritywhite11 Let me connect the dots for you. The planet is big. Fossil fuel emissions like coal create a greenhouse effect in upper atmosphere which heats up the planet. When vast northern forests get hotter, lightning strikes lead to more severe fires that cause more hazardous smoke events.

There are ~9000 times as many trees in Canada as people. Most of the forest is highly inaccessible, far from any towns or roads. Any sort of large-scale active forest managment is a fantasy in Canada, and firefighting is mostly limited to the small portion near inhabited areas.

No expert thinks Canada or any country can stop all wildfires with hotter temps across a forest bigger than the US South.

It's horrible. I'm ashamed by the 🇺🇸 response. Awful. However something more needs to be done by Canada to prevent these massive fires. Your forests are vast and there will be fires but a military style firefighting infrastructure needs to be built out. Canadians shouldn't be losing their lives, homes and livelihoods and neither Canadians or Americans should be breathing in the dense dangerous smoke hovering over us.

@tepri_x @Apsuspension @UnacceptableN It is well known in Canada that the fires in our remote and dense boreal forests are usually ignited by storm lightning. If the starting point of a fire is examined, it often is unreachable by humans unless they flew in and dropped from helos.

After verifying the accuracy of the video using satmaps, I have recorded a time lapse of the 48 hours prior to July 13th, 23:55 UTC, coinciding with the time range of the video. At around 19:00 UTC, July 12th, you can see a storm and two squalls pass over the area between. The rest should be plainly obvious from watching the video.

Just a coincidence right?
