Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan says fuel protesters are being influenced by external figures, urging them to recognise the impact of their actions. He referenced Tommy Robinson as an example of those seeking to use the protests to advance their own agenda. #VMNews

We accept the right of people to protest but this is not a fair protest. Denying people the right to fuel and to clean water. These are essentials. Warnings to pregnant women to go much earlier to health appointments because of the blockade is not fair.

Wouldn't ye think @MichealMartinTD & @SimonHarrisTD would tell their advisors to have a day off...go meet the protesters, talk like professional politicians, negotiate, make life easier for ordinary people...it is not that hard

@dan_AVFC88 @CraigOSul1 @aidan__m @chippie1974 With respect tho - whether or not you 'buy' it is irrelevant. You're just a random on social media. One who seems content to spread baseless allegations just because it doesn't match your own views/prejudices. I doubt much sleep will be lost in Phibsboro about your opinion here👍

Bohs have also published accounts for 2025 for their uefa licence. Like other clubs, very little P&L data publicly published but the club made a profit of €1.5m last year. Given the costs of running a full time side here, you can imagine what drove that.

I'm always amused when an Irish Government suggests somebody will "face the full rigors of the law". This is a country with one of the most lenient sentencing regimes in the western world. Literal paedophiles don't do jail time.

@Leonard84282516 @betweenstripes Believe me I have a very good idea how the finances of a LOI club works. NGO's give money towards groups/bodies who promote charitable causes, the Govt government gives money to the NGO's, that's how it works in this country.

@dan_AVFC88 @betweenstripes You obviously failed maths in school and are probably illiterate too if you cant read their accounts. Look up how much Bohs made from merchandise sales last year with their Guinness, Fontaine and Oasis shirts and come back to me.

@EoinLenihan Well said. Hopefully people will have the same energy to protest the construction of the 7 new IPAS centres which are being undemocratically forced onto them.

Same for Micheal Martin. He and his partner in government Harris refuse to accept any accountability when they break the law, but threaten hauliers now. Democracy is a fragile contract. The public obeys laws set out knowing their elected officials do the same and will step down in a show of accountability if they do not. Martin and Harris have shown they do not believe in personal accountability and that they only engage in democratic elements they like. Hopefully many more Irish people will now wake up and see that they haven't been living in a functioning democracy for a long time.

Irish Deputy Prime Minister (Tánaiste) Simon Harris calls the actions of the farmers and hauliers protesting fuel costs 'sinister'. He attacks them for not obeying the 'laws of the land'. The issue is that he and his partners in government for the past two decades have consistently ignored and bypassed the 'laws of the land'. 1. The have not enforced basic immigration laws at the ports of entry in Ireland. Tens of thousands have arrived at Dublin Airport and elsewhere with no or falsified ID and have been allowed into the asylum system. 2. Where negative final rejections on asylum cases have been handed down, Harris's governments have not acted to remove thousands of individuals from the state. 3. Most inflammatory - Harris, his predecessor Leo Varadkar and his partner in government Micheal Martin have pursued a 'no veto, no consultation' policy of ramming thousands of illegals into small communities across Ireland. They have overridden planning laws and removed all democratic avenues for local communities to reject these IPAS centres. It has led to unprecedented fear, conflict and violence between electorate and state. In all of these cases, Simon Harris and his governments have chosen to ignore the 'laws of the land'. They have chosen which laws suit them and which do not. Simon Harris has no credibility when he labels peaceful protestors 'sinister and despicable'. He is out of touch, authoritarian and his statement will just provoke more anger in a nation teetering on the brink of civil unrest. 👇👇👇

@bradley_steve @CraigOSul1 @aidan__m @chippie1974 The figures aren't available, so I can be neither be proven right or disproven in equal measure unless you or someone else here has the full accounts. The only revealing figure that we can see is the level of deferred income which is unusually high particularly in 2024.

@bradley_steve @CraigOSul1 @aidan__m @chippie1974 Like I said, I do not buy that a LOI club can turn that kind of profit purely from shirt sales, sponsorship and ticket sales without European money, players sales or owner investment. It's borderline impossible and the available accounts of every other LOI club will back that up.

@bradley_steve @CraigOSul1 @aidan__m @chippie1974 You are conflating the commercial incentive of aligning themselves with bands, with the commercial incentive to virtue signal for woke causes, they are not the same thing (Kneecap aside). They didn't sell X amount of those Oasis shirts because they have pride corner flags for eg.

@dan_AVFC88 @CraigOSul1 @aidan__m @chippie1974 Firstly - there is no "your" here. I'm not a Bohs fan. Secondly- the commercial incentive is obvious. There's clearly a market for selling footbal shirts tht espouse certain causes, bands etc. Ur now admitting tht u made an allegation without the slightest credible basis for it🤷‍♂️
