One of my biggest passions is giving. I am constantly thinking about how I can grow in this area of my life. I believe it so strongly that it shaped everything about how I built Simple Modern. Our mission statement is definitely unique: "We Exist to Give Generously". One of my favorite things to do is spend time with other friends in the business world who are interested in how to live a more generous life in the business world. A couple of years ago I hosted a conference at Simple Modern HQ. We called it the "Generosity Summit". We spent time at the conference connecting, sharing some good food, and talking about how to grow in this area. It was fantastic. We have decided to do it again September 9-11. At this point we don't have many openings left, but I want to know how many of the people I am connected with would be interested. My friends who have @eightsleep mattress covers really love them. They cool and heat and have a ton of sensors that watch your sleep quality. Of course a lot of AI. When they offered to drive out to people’s homes to let them try I signed up instantly. I get why people love them now. Maryam loved it too. This is gonna cost! I recorded the visit here.

This is my general rule too. I’m at nearly every breakfast, and the chef behind nearly all of the them. Always there for bath, book, and bedtime. Work a bit before they get up, after they go down. I also think it’s tell them before I leave each day that I’m leaving to go “work for the family” so they he know that I’m leaving as part of a family responsibility, not to exit from it.

Mark Pincus built Zynga while raising 5 kids. His coach Bing Gordon told him the thing kids always remember is the first and last 15 minutes of their day. Mark made it his rule. He never missed the first or last 15 minutes, never missed breakfast, always did bath and bedtime.

@dan_bowling @Jasmywhale63203 @CharlieWaltonMN He was under contract, he didn’t have the ability to turn down an opportunity with Dallas because they didn’t have the right to speak with him. In order to speak with him ownership would’ve had to give that permission and they did not.

@SotaMatt3 @CharlieWaltonMN Outcomes are rarely 50/50 since they are based on conditional probability and relationships in data - or variables. If there’s two variables but one is more likely, then it’s greater than 50/50, which is the current status of LeBron to the Wolves.

Instead of letting expensive ticket scalpers take over the best seats in the house for standard, disengaged audiences, the Piano Man completely changed the game. At work, every big decision carries real weight. Miss on one and people lose jobs. Families feel it. That’s the reality I live in. So I don’t need the Wolves to be another source of stress. They’re my entertainment. Winning it all is the ceiling. But what gets me fired up in late June is simpler: being in the hunt. An owner willing to pay the luxury tax. Going all in while other franchises calculate their way to mediocrity. That’s the joy. Something real on the line. New ownership gets it. This is their entertainment too. And fun has always cost money. And I costs me no real pain if they swing and miss - the real pain is when they didnt even really try.

It’s a bummer the way the NBA is covered these days, especially on a national level. Teams that DON’T take risks are essentially praised, while teams that take big swings are essentially clowned. We’re all going to die one day. Why not take risks and at least *try* to compete?
