Die Raffination des Silbers für ein Gigawatt verbraucht etwa 4.600 Megawattstunden Strom, was dem jährlichen Stromverbrauch von 400 US-Haushalten entspricht. Die Herstellung des Aluminiums verbraucht fast 2 Millionen Gigajoule Energie, genug, um mehr als 100.000 Haushalte ein Jahr lang mit Strom zu versorgen. Solarenergie wird mit einem enormen Aufwand an fossilen Energieträgern erzeugt. Nur die Leistung wird als „grün” bezeichnet. Das sind die Realitäten, über die Aktivisten niemals sprechen wollen.
