@henrymjtonks @Cory_Haala My read (fwliw) is that it’s not entirely false — there is a sincere nationalist globalism ( borrowed from John Fousek) in this moment. This nationalist globalism is about the competitiveness of *US* corporations in prestige sectors, not US workers.

Returned this semester to the Center for Lowell History’s Paul Tsongas collection to look at his 1992 presidential run, and struck by how prescient the campaign now seems. Tsongas’s historical rep for selling pure, uncut fiscal discipline gets it wrong imo.
