Sana Biotechnology shared new data at the Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) conference in Barcelona, showing that their lab-engineered, insulin-producing cells have survived in one person for 14 months without the need for immunosuppression 🔬. The results of this study have shown that Sana's method is viable, and trials involving more people are planned for later this year. Read more at the link in our bio 📖 #Type1Diabetes #GBDoc #Research

We’ve just wrapped up our @BT1DUK Technology Discovery Event in the beautiful city of Liverpool 💙. The energy in the room was electric. A huge thank you to our brilliant technology partners – the medtech exhibition was buzzing from start to finish, with so many great conversations and curiosity. Events like this are right at the heart of what we do – for many the first time they are in the same room as others with #T1D and full of impact: people getting access to information, feeling more confident, discovering options they didn’t know were out there and connecting with others who truly get it. Massive thanks to our renowned clinician speaker Reza Zaidi for such an engaging and insightful session, and to our amazing staff team who brought this day to life – Mollie Hillis for an inspiring research presentation, @chrisbrighty1 for hosting, Bella Allchorne (her first event as Community Events Officer, but you’d never have known!), and Jim Pattison for his policy expertise. What really stood out was the community spirit. Conversations flowing, connections being made, experiences shared – and so many people joining us for the very first time. That mix of curiosity, openness and passion is exactly what makes this community so special. Thank you to everyone who came along, brought the energy and made the day what it was 💙 A huge thank you to the Bukhman Foundation for their support of our Community Engagement work. #Type1Diabetes @GBDocInfo @DigiBeteUK #GBDoc #NIDoc

Lyla's Law
Lyla's Law@triggersbroom17·
I think I’m just about caught up. I’ve been in tears for the last hour at the sheer volume of love, and the media coverage doing the rounds. If I could ask a massive favour. For every news article you see, for every tv piece, for every story you are brave enough to share, tag Wes Streeting and the Department of Health and Social Care. Mr. Streeting has said he will commit to looking into the objectives of Lyla’s Law. We need looking at, turning into reality. Even if there is nothing to tag, perhaps do a post entitled “What Lyla’s Law Means To Me” and tag them in. Our voices must remain loud. We must remain strong. We cannot remain silent. They have the seats, but we have the power. #LylasLaw 💛💝🌻 #TestDontGuess

Lyla's Law

The Ayes have it 💛💝🌻 Last night’s debate on Lyla’s Law was deeply emotive and, at times, incredibly hard to listen to. Those who spoke shared real, harrowing experiences from families across the UK, families who were dismissed, unheard, and left fighting for answers until their loved ones were finally diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at a critical, sometimes tragic, point. Three precious lives lost to misdiagnosis were named, Eli, Peter, and our Lyla. Their stories, and the stories of so many others, filled that room with a powerful truth that can no longer be ignored. The Minister’s response recognised the urgent need for change: better digital flags in primary care, greater awareness, stronger NICE guidelines, and improved training. I’m honoured to be working alongside the DSN Forum, DigiBete, Beth Baldwin and Levi Pearce to help shape some of this training so no family has to walk this path again. Thank you, each and every one of you, who voted, who wrote to your MPs, who showed up to protest, who stood with us. I’m so sorry I didn’t get to speak to everyone last night, but please know this: My wife, Lyla, and I are so incredibly proud of all of you. Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for fighting for change. Thank you for helping make sure every family is heard. #LylasLaw #TestDontGuess

Honoured to stand with John and Emma Story today as they hand in their Lyla's Law petition. Through their tireless campaigning to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of type 1 diabetes (T1D) and push for faster diagnosis, they are helping to save lives and spare families the devastating consequences of a missed or delayed diagnosis. No family should ever have to face the heartbreak of losing a child because the signs were not recognised in time. Thank you, John and Emma, for the extraordinary energy, courage and commitment you have shown in fighting for change. 💙 @triggersbroom17 #LylasLaw #T1D #Type1Diabetes

On Monday I fly out to Barcelona 🇪🇸 and I'm excited to be attending #ATTD2026 as a @dedocORG voice. Keep an eye on my socials for my updates from @ATTDconf. The #dedoc° voices scholarship program has facilitated my access. All words are my own. 💙

.@parthaskar , this tribute is so incredibly deserved and it was emotional being there to witness it last night. As someone living with #T1D, I felt every word of Lesley’s beautiful speech, and that standing ovation - just as electric as the one at TAD - was pure community energy. It said everything about the love, gratitude and admiration people have for you. Your leadership hasn’t just shifted policy - it’s changed real lives and created space for our voices, our stories and our hopes to shape the future of T1D care. It’s been such a pleasure working with you from Breakthrough T1D - and it continues to be - so thank you for the courage, heart and humanity you bring. Your impact sits right at the centre of this community, and it will be felt for a very, very long time. See you soon 💙 @BT1DUK @GBDocInfo #Type1Diabetes #GBDoc #NIDoc @DigiBeteUK
