@ElissaNoves Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. That the trio weren’t booted out of the party speaks volumes. I’m not a fan of the many of the Labour councillors either but let’s see what they do.

UPDATE: The recount has been finalised and Cllr Golby has officially lost her seat on the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council where she acted as Deputy Leader. She remains a County Cllr and has yet to face any party discipline for her comments about SEND families.

@optinmonster , after your acquisition of @beacon_by, there are features missing from my user dashboard. Branding in Resource Library, Custom Domains are limited, can't add user, sending email signature etc. Can you please have a look at it?

@ElissaNoves Anyone can attend these committee meetings as well as meetings of full council. You can send questions to the committee and to council members ahead of meetings too. Don’t expect a detailed answer or apology but do use your vote in local and general elections.

My response to our Councillors "apology". I'm pretty angry right now. Two weeks of silence and then a few mealy mouthed lines. Is anyone really surprised?

@ElissaNoves She’ll block me on LinkedIn next but this was on today. No mention of the meeting, just playing the victim. Narcissistic behaviour!

Mrs Golby said she accepted the words used at the meeting "were open to interpretation". Honestly you couldn't write this stuff! bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

@ElissaNoves They’d prefer to send children off to institutions to be sexually abused, subjected to violence and dodgy medical experiments?

Cllr Hammersley responds to being told that children with SEND were institutionalised with "they must have had better ways of dealing with them. Let's go back to some of those ways"

@StoppingAbuse1 Signed and shared but don’t get your hopes up, they cannot be sacked for this. They can be kicked out of the party but there is no chance of that.

@RossKerr1991 Agree, it’s a difficult one. Ignoring it allows them to get away with it. It’s also disheartening to actually witness council meetings where much is discussed but little is done and decisions are often already made.

I am embarrassed to have sat alongside some of the councillors in this video. This is disgusting and saddening. To mock and dismiss real problems that ruin the lives of children and their families is a massive middle finger up to the public they are supposed to serve.
Elissa Noves@ElissaNoves

🧵 Clips below: Cllr Hammersley: "Is it something in the water?" "Why are there so many people jumping out with these needs? Where were they when I was at school?" "Why do so many people have this badge of SEND and special needs?" "To stop this spend fix the problem at source"

@hollymatthews @ElissaNoves @Warwickshire_CC @BBCCWR These councillors all sit on the Children and Young People committee that I used to sit on. They make recommendations to cabinet about decisions that affect the families they are openly mocking and dismissing.

@ElissaNoves @Warwickshire_CC It starts at the top. These are all Tory counsellors with beliefs from the Stone Age. Let’s get these idiots out at the next general and get younger people in these positions. @BBCCWR I’m more than happy to speak on this disgraceful display (as a Mum with an autistic child)😡

Thank you everyone who has shared, commented and complained about the conduct of the Cllrs at the @Warwickshire_CC scrutiny meeting. I've been made aware that Cllr Golby has claimed that the sharing of her comments and the offensive and hurt this has caused is "harassment". She blocked me after I shared my thread so I haven't seen her statement. I have seen no harassment, only shock and hurt. Elected Officials should be held to a high standard. When they fail in their duties, break their code of conduct and cause harm to the people they represent, they should be held to account. This would be the case in any position but it is especially important in politics. It may have been a shock to Cllr Golby to be held to account over her actions. A knee jerk defensive response has followed. She should now reflect on her actions and whether she is the right person to represent her constituents. I hope an apology will follow.

@ElissaNoves @Warwickshire_CC Cllr Golby has done it for years. I get it, people can be vile, especially online. But you stand for public office and the public have every right to comment on your actions and decisions. The council can do little and the party will do nothing.

Absolutely, Cllrs and MPs shouldn't be abused or harrassed but it's disingenuous to conflate scrutiny to bullying. Being accountable is specifically listed on the code of conduct. I was obviously naive thinking there would be apologies but conflating the reaction to her comments to abuse is quite a reach!

@bbcmtd Councillors do need protection, especially online. But Cllr Golby gaslights residents & has done for years. Words have consequences & residents have a right to voice their opinions. You stand for election to serve the public, they have a right to comment on your actions.
