He also pointed out that federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), alongside parastatals, tertiary institutions and research centres, are currently employing Nigerians in significant numbers. State governments are also benefiting from increased allocations to support humanitarian and welfare programmes for citizens. According to him, interventions in the education sector have also yielded results, with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund providing support for students, while the Tertiary Education Trust Fund continues to enhance lecturers’ welfare and development. He noted that many lecturers have recorded greater benefits from TETFund in recent years compared to previous administrations. Highlighting industrial harmony in universities, Atoyebi pointed to the relative absence of strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities as an indication of improved engagement between government and academic unions. He further outlined ongoing infrastructure projects across the country, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, the Abuja-Lokoja road rehabilitation and multiple road upgrades within the Federal Capital Territory. Other projects cited include the Sokoto-Badagry road, Oyo-Ogbomoso road, East-West road and the Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa corridor. On the economic front, Atoyebi referenced what he described as increased foreign reserves, reforms in the banking sector that have improved international usability of Nigerian payment cards and relative stability in foreign exchange and monetary policy. He also noted developments in the aviation sector, stating that the resolution of airline indebtedness has contributed to the return of international carriers such as Emirates to Nigeria. He linked this progress to renewed global confidence in the sector, reflected in Nigeria’s latest aviation safety performance. According to the International Civil Aviation Organization Coordinated Validation Mission (ICVM), Nigeria recently attained a 91 per cent score in aviation safety oversight, one of its highest ratings to date following improvements on the 70.12 per cent recorded during the 2023 audit under the ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP). The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said the rating reflects enhanced regulatory compliance and successful implementation of corrective action plans across aviation agencies and airlines. Beyond aviation, Atoyebi pointed to broader financial system credibility, noting Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force grey list. The delisting followed sustained reforms to strengthen anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing frameworks, a move widely seen as improving investor confidence and restoring Nigeria’s standing in the global financial system.
