I grew up in the Twin Cities and always found the quality-of-life arguments smug and self-satisfied.
But they’re also true. I haven’t lived there in almost 20 years but it’s absolutely the highest quality-of-life in America.

@Tyler_Caboodle @JaredDHardin I work at a bike shop. Same situation & highly unlikely will we ever see the margin back. But the owners make enough and customers are happy to have a place their bike gets fixed on time AND they pay a fair price.

@JaredDHardin I’ve frequently had my attention to detail (OCD?) cause the last ~10% of jobs to drag.
Would it be fine? Yes. Would they still pay? Yes. Would anyone else go the extra 10%? Some, but not all.
Never been able to quantify if that extra 10% eventually pays off (& if so, how much).

Striping a parking lot that is in rough condition is so frustrating.
If you hit a tiny pothole or bump, this happens.
I should probably leave this, but i just can't do it.
I always break out the stencil and fix it as best as I can.

Two years ago dad passed away from complications of a catastrophic fall. He was a quadriplegic for five months before his passing. I have a video of him playing soccer with my son just a couple of months before his fall. Running, laughing, playing his favorite sport and being a great grandfather. I’m grateful for this video.
