Since moving to the suburbs, I think the weirdest thing is that I live 20 minutes from a giraffe.

Creators, we know what to do at this point. The writing is on the wall. I get that it’s hard to know who you can trust but I know. You can trust yourself. And your instincts. Something tells me that’s what built your business in the first place. My instincts say that it may take years for things to change in SERPs or in the search market if they ever change. My instincts say Google targeted niche blogs and won’t admit to it because of legal reasons. There is precedence for this behavior in their company. That’s why we feel so gaslighted. We ARE, being gaslighted. My instincts also tell me this is a profitable time for people who are selling audits and solutions and to proceed with extreme caution. And so, fair or not, our only option is to pivot. Pivot our traffic and our business. Also pivot our income and start new non-Google dependent businesses. Focus on where the market is rewarding creators versus where they have a foot on our heads. Every minute I spend fighting Google I might gain and inch, I might gain nothing at all. Maybe a few Twitter followers. Every minute I spend putting my effort into companies and platforms that are rewarding creators I gain a mile.
