Unilinguisme chez Air Canada : les appels à la démission de Michael Rousseau se multiplient
« On est désolés de la manière dont ce message a été reçu », affirme Christophe Hennebelle, d’Air Canada. #tj18h
@TLNewmanMTL Montreal‘s official language is French
When you travel to other cities in the world there’s no English just the official language of the country.
Everyday, on the metro in Montreal, travellers only hear warning messages in French. No one suggests it's a moral failing. No one seems concerned about the safety of those visiting from other provinces or from countries who think Canada is bilingual.
@legallymsjuno Girl, just so you know, the anglos in Quebec have their own schools, hospitals, and services in their own language. All that in a French only speaking province. So a bilingual message for two pilots would’ve been nice and respectful. One was Francophone and one was an Anglophone.
Quick aviation fact for the committee: English is the OFFICIAL international language of aviation per ICAO standards—pilots & controllers worldwide MUST use it for safety to avoid deadly mix-ups. Every pilot speaks English operationally.
Yet Air Canada CEO records crash condolences mostly in English (with a couple French words thrown in) after a tragedy that killed two pilots, including one from Quebec → gets SUMMONED to Ottawa by the Official Languages Committee to 'explain himself' before May 1.
Because apparently a 4-minute video not being perfectly bilingual is the real emergency here.
Meanwhile, anglophones in Québec get treated like second-class citizens EVERY DAY: French text legally 2x bigger on signs (thanks Bill 96), constant language policing, and daily reminders anglophones are outsiders in their own country.
But sure, THIS is the national crisis worth a parliamentary grilling. Priorities, eh?
@eliasmakos We live in a bilingual country, Air Canada is a bilingual company, and the message should’ve been in both languages by respect to both pilots and their families.

U wanted fame. U wanted to be a star. This is part of it. If u don’t like attention, walk away from spotlight anytime 😎
Time to take some accountability!
#Update Here is CCTV Footage of the incident at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) last night involving Air Canada Express CRJ-900(operated by Jazz Aviation, #AT8646 flight from Montreal) that struck a Port Authority fire truck crossing Runway 4. #Jazz646#Aviation#AirCanada
We went to a dinner as a group and had a $500 bill. We tipped $40. We were happy we can be able to give our server something, but her reaction was the opposite. She told us she assumed we're going to give her at least $120. When we asked for the manager, she said she was just joking, but she wasn't smiling at all. Idk, but is $40 tip enough for $500 bill? I just feel like expecting $120 is not realistic.

For my European followers…public toilets in shopping centres in Australia are free..and almost always clean…no need to pay money to a dame pipi/toilettenfrau/pani toaletowa to keep it clean!
You’re not 21 anymore. You’re in your mid 40s. You’re wealthy beyond most people’s ability to understand wealth. Either stay at home with your family or if you must go out and get wasted, take an uber.
@mateocombs Last year our waiter was an a south asian immigrant and spoke very french. It isn’t a law to be served by a middle aged french speaking lady …
To those celebrating St. Patrick's Day across Canada. Have fun. I don't mind you celebrating your culture that you brought from your country of origin here in Canada. Your parades are inconvenient but don't bother me. I assume you'll extend the same courtesy to me. :)
When Trump leaves office:
The Department of War will go back to being the Defense Department.
The Trump Kennedy Center will go back to being the Kennedy Center.
The Gulf of America will once again be the Gulf of Mexico.
The unfinished East Wing (it won't be finished by the end of Trump's term) will be rebuilt by the next president, and it will not be a ballroom.
Federal agencies packed with unqualified loyalists will fire those people and rehire the career experts Trump fired.
The Department of Justice will go back to enforcing the law instead of protecting the president.
Scientific agencies like NOAA, the EPA, and the CDC will go back to publishing research without political interference.
The U.S. will re-align with its allies and not with its enemies.
The presidential pardon power will stop being used as a rewards program for loyalists.
Inspectors General will go back to investigating corruption instead of getting fired for it.
The White House press room will go back to having briefings, with real journalists and not podcasters.
U.S. foreign policy will stop revolving around flattering dictators.
And the world will progress as though Donald Trump never existed.
🚨 NEW BODYCAM FOOTAGE RELEASED
The traffic stop that went viral now has bodycam showing what actually happened.
Deputies in San Marcos pulled over a red Hyundai Sonata for a vehicle code violation late at night.
While checking the car, they noticed registration inconsistencies and damage to the steering column, raising suspicions the vehicle could be stolen.
Then things escalated.
Police say the 33-year-old passenger ignored repeated commands, rolled up his window, reached toward the floorboard, and armed himself with a semiautomatic handgun.
Officers safely removed the 21-year-old driver, but the passenger refused orders to drop the weapon and raised the gun.
At that point, five deputies and an officer opened fire.
The man was pronounced dead.
The original video sparked intense debate online… but now the bodycam is adding new context to what unfolded.
