The similarities between Albania and Armenia are striking: both post-Soviet states, with comparable populations and GDP, and even land area! But the latter has far more typeface designers... Please hazard a guess as to why that might be.

During the Ottoman period, the palace was home to so many cats that special small doors were built to allow them to move freely between rooms.
Opening and closing the large doors was both difficult for people and impractical for the cats.
That’s why special cat-sized passages were added under or beside the main doors.

Reiche kamen und gingen: Babylonier, Römer, Osmanen, Briten. Zweitausend Jahre Exil und Diaspora. Und doch kehrten die Juden zurück, errichteten den Staat neu, belebten ihre alte Sprache wieder und brachten den Schekel zurück in Umlauf. Nennt mir ein anderes Land auf dieser Erde, das dieselbe einzigartige Kombination aus Name, revived antiker Sprache und historischer Währung vorweisen kann. Ich warte.

Il fatto è che avevamo tutti pensato (compresi i costituzionalisti più autorevoli, americani ed europei) che i forti poteri presidenziali fossero saldamente limitati da altrettanto forti checks and balances (Congresso, Corte Suprema, poteri degli Stati, GAO, Federal Reserve, ecc.). Avevamo sottovalutato tutti l’impatto dirompente che avrebbe potuto avere una interpretazione spregiudicata di una legislazione eccezionale pensata per contrastare le emergenze nazionali. La convinzione che il presidenzialismo USA sia una forma di governo saldamente democratica come la forma di governo parlamentare prevalente in Europa non è più così incontestabile. Ma il precedente della Repubblica di Weimar dimostra che anche nelle forme parlamentari occorre sempre vigilare sulla saldezza delle garanzie democratiche e degli equilibri costituzionali. Le riforme elettorali, di cui si torna oggi a discutere in Italia, vanno valutate anche e in primo luogo sulla base di questo parametro.

This is a genuinely interesting story. Huge amount of automated work, potentially saving hundreds of thousands of human hours. BUT: with an error rate of 10%, and with the precise reading of *every* word mattering in such an exercise, it is meaningless, and for manuscripts of authority worse than useless, without a human checking every single word.
BUT: there simply aren't people, in 2026, with the expertise, the time, and the funding to check these 32,000 manuscripts at this level.
