I might be the best use case for AI. I have a reasonable amount of dev experience, am reasonably intelligent, curious and into active learning. I've never learned more and accomplished more technically than I have in the last 12 months.

For me, it's more like, "VR is very cool, but needs to be one of many cool things I'm working on, not the only one"

How difficult is it to swap from VR/game dev into defense tech? Sights set on @anduriltech

@p_millerd High salary people in tech, finance, exec enterprise roles often live pretty disconnected from real life. I have a friend making 400k+ a year, wants to start a startup but needs millions in day one funding because he can't imagine paying himself something like 100k a year.

Was having a convo with someone in a high wage job and it sort of captured the disconnect between self employed and paycheck reality He assumed “oh you’re making crazy good money from your books.” I explained I made $300k in royalties over five years from when I started the book. This is certainly amazing for books and I feel blessed. But he sort of assumed I was making 200-300k a year from just books. Goes “wow hadn’t thought about the fact that it wouldn’t just keep rising or it wasn’t annually.” I sort of get this. Before quitting I never had a single year of declining salary. Was a steady rise.

Founders with young kids have an impossible task. Always deeply conflicted between family and company. You will disappoint one side what ever you do. You just resort to 16-hour days to keep up between the 2. Mad respect

live demo failure aside, I like where Meta's going with the AR glasses. These things are going to be huge over the next 5-10 years.

@TheWireWhiz Hmmmm... what would be the car? I kinda see AR glasses as a phone replacement and stepping stone to VR for a lot of people. Like how most gamers are moms playing candy crush, but that benefits the whole gaming industry... My theory is most XR users will be AR glasses normies

This is incredible. There are a ton of really interesting applications of this. Excited to get my hands on it.

@TheWireWhiz Japanese, because it's all a show to management. American startup culture is at least attempting to hustle and grind long hours, not just sit in the office for show to your manager

Thought experiment: Which ones worse, Japanese work culture, or American startup culture?

@xuwu It will come, and as many of us predicted, it will probably be AR glasses that take XR mainstream VR will benefit greatly, but will remain niche for training, gaming, and similar use cases But AR, it's the phone replacement... and that's why Meta and Apple are betting on it

Funny how no one’s talking about it, but in last week’s earnings calls, both Apple and Meta quietly doubled down on XR’s future. Tim Cook said, “We continue to be very focused on Vision Pro… this is an area that we really believe in.” Zuckerberg said, “Glasses are basically the ideal form factor for AI… the ideal way to blend the physical and digital worlds. The whole metaverse vision will be extremely important and AI will accelerate that.”
