I’m very excited about Nicolas Jackson. One goal per 90 so far, and xG is 0.81 (!). Poor finish last season: 0.45 goals from 0.60 xG. But he clearly can finish well: 0.68 goals from 0.44 xG in his last season at Villarreal. Wild potential, and could be turning a corner here.

@KierDoyle Mudryk, Sterling and Madueke poor and can’t keep possession. Maresca will probably be forced to play Nkunku/Jackson and Palmer as wingers, Caicedo and KDH as 8s for stability defensively.

On one hand, Madueke has scored a lot of goals this preseason and that’s objectively a good thing. On the other, he has been genuinely the worst player in a truly terrible bunch defensively every single game

@FelixJohnston_ What? Out muscled for the first goal and not quick enough to close down on the second. Probably needs at least a year to get back physically

Maybe not for the goals but honestly think Fofana has looked really good, especially considering he’s been out for over a year. So athletic & physical. Gone full pelt & won lots of good duels & loose balls, whilst looking secure on the ball.

@KierDoyle 250k is Chilwell/Reece wages. He wants 350-400k which is Sterling wages. I don’t think 250k is too big a risk, 350k however is damaging to the wage structure in place.

I have been extremely meh about Olise for exactly this reason. Dude has 1 season of star level production but only 1200 minutes of it. I’m not paying that guy 250k p/w.

I have finally watched the Bournemouth game, although it’s a bit irrelevant now maybe, but it’s a good encapsulation of our season: a way of playing that’s enough to get us to 6th but not a blueprint sustainable for Top 4 or consistent T6. Based on it, here is the task at hand:

Skal være forsiktig med å si at det er det dummeste jeg noensinne har sett. Men at Everton trekkes 10 poeng nå.. Mens Mudryk, Caicedo, Jackson og halve Chelsea er på kontrakter frem til langt inn i neste tiår. City har hva er det, 120 brudd på FFP - mens Everton!? De ryker. OK👍
