As part of phase three of the Review of the Regional Architecture, the High-Level Persons Group (HLPG) commenced the High-Level Political Talanoa with the Government of Fiji. The HLPG met with Hon Biman Prasad, Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics. They also met and had robust discussions with the Permanent Secretaries from across the Government machinery. The dialogues focused on unlocking strategic opportunities as a collective and in response to the evolving strategic landscape and the need to address the systemic challenges within the current regional architecture. The exchanges reaffirmed the collective ambition for deepened Pacific regionalism, including a strengthened regional governance framework that is fit-for-purpose - anchored in Pacific leadership, driven by member priorities, and accountable to the people of the Blue Pacific Continent. The HLPG will also meet with the Prime Minister of Fiji, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka in the coming weeks.

Last Friday, 4 Oct, #HRC57 held an Enhanced Interactive Dialogue on the #nuclearlegacy in the Marshall Islands with @nuclear_RMI & @MEInonprofit. #OHCHR presented a report highlighting the ongoing effects of the 67 known nuclear tests performed between 1946 and 1958.
