@SadlyItsBradley If webxr apps could be spawned like volumetric objects like this, and persist with other native apps, I'd be so happy

visionOS’ auto-generated environment reflections never cease to amaze me The fact that I can see my IRL Windows reflected off of my fully working digital Tetris machine is just crazy
Brad Lynch@SadlyItsBradley

The new Retrocade update is freaking awesome Not only did they add a super high-quality Japanese arcade environment: But each machine now has a seated version of each cabinet to match the Japanese arcade culture along with it (both VR and AR)

Took long enough but I have chosen my wife. I found her hours away from civilization in a tiny town near the mountains, homeschooled like myself, didn’t have an IG, straight out of a fairytale or a time machine or both. Better than anything I could have imagined Always felt I won the lottery being born to my parents, and now I can say I’ve won the lottery twice

It's honestly impressive that GitHub kept the service up at all, given this kind of growth. I predicted this years ago: Free services will become untenable with the advent of human-level bots. Worth exploring micro-payments: Even cents per git push might be enough to reduce spam and make this sustainable. Maybe powered by Bitcoin to keep this open and accessible (as opposed to KYCing users).

Ghostty is leaving GitHub. I'm GitHub user 1299, joined Feb 2008. I've visited GitHub almost every single day for over 18 years. It's never been a question for me where I'd put my projects: always GitHub. I'm super sad to say this, but its time to go. mitchellh.com/writing/ghostt…

@Teknium @StevenDarlow @NousResearch @KevinCrosby1 Ayo this happened to me too. I sent GitHub a ticket (4248566) 1 month ago, no reply yet. I asked for clarification about their machine account policy. Did everything by the book, but my agent's acc still got suspended with 0 explanation. Very frustrating situation 😩

@alightinastorm The importing custom assets pipeline needs a bit of work to make it easier. Basically a manifest file describes the layers which helps with culling. You can drag n drop rigged glb / vrm files into the app also to create your own. Overall imo it’s a good boilerplate for expansion

@alightinastorm Here’s an open source character creation app built on threejs github.com/M3-org/Charact… Has LOD support, sprite creation, export glb and vrm. It needs a base model + customization UX with blend shapes for creating your own unique chars If you only need avatars, i rec vroid studio

Wtf is happening here. This dude is working on a project called Time Machine, basically centuries of archives & weave them into a giant graph of people, places, and events across time. Then building an exploration layer: AR/VR "time capsules" you can walk through, a slider that lets you scrub a city back to 1750 or 1340, and search engines that query the past like Google queries the present. The long-term vision is called Mirror World - overlay a reconstructed 19th-century street directly onto today's reality, then scroll the timeline forward or backward at will. The Mirror World vision explicitly includes scrolling the timeline forward, not just backward, and the EU pitch documents list things like long-term urban planning and computational epidemiology built on the "big data of the past" as intended use cases. Very close to being able to predict the future. And very similar to @miroshark_ architecture... 🤔

Back up all documents, including books, in your local storage. Books are tiny and provide so much value. If you don't think Palantir is going to heavily crack down on freedom of speech, you may realize you want access to banned books when it's too late.

@AzFlin I’m able to run all the latest open source frontier models on my Strix halo that was 1 eth back in November. Price bumped up 50% since then on Amazon for 128gb. Getting 77tps for qwen3.6 x.com/dankvr/status/…
jin@dankvr

Was waiting for hardware to drop in price to run bigger LLMs locally. The Strix Halo mini PC market is the best bang for your buck atm: 128gb RAM systems a fraction of the cost of DIY / Nvidia's Spark and Mac Studios 47 tps for gpt-oss 120b, not bad! Low power too (140w)

This is a massive and growing problem for American national security. Unbelievable amounts of sensitive and classified information is captured, scraped, and sent back to foreign nations. And users have no idea. Nobody expects that their TV or monitor is a surveillance tool. When I have joked that Smart TVs should be illegal, I am only half-joking.
Nav Toor@heynavtoor

Your smart TV is taking screenshots of your screen every 15 seconds. Not a guess. Not a theory. A peer-reviewed study by researchers at UC Davis, UCL, and UC3M tested it. Samsung TVs: every minute. LG TVs: every 15 seconds. Even when you're just using it as a monitor. Here's how to turn it off for every brand:

What do 3D printing, mesh networks, solar, and crypto have in common? They all make one type of person very nervous: the one who charges you monthly for something you could own.

Feature request: I want to support Brave by paying in Zcash. Doing it that way helps protect me from hackers and kidnappers, and it is also more convenient than the alternative. Especially if I pay from my Brave Wallet. @iAnonymous3000 @BrendanEich
