Imagine being a small business with debt, that you used to import products you had manufactured in china. In the time it took to make the products, tariffs were added, that more than doubled your cost. They are crushed. They will default on their debt.

Every team has like 90 guys on the roster under contract. Only 53 will be under contract when the season starts. Some vets will be let go.
There is no such thing as “honoring a contract.”

The Aiyuk side and the 49ers side, from everything I've heard lately, remain unhappy with the way each has approached this. Still could come to an agreement, but it is unlikely to be all hugs and buddy-buddy.

NFL teams don't "honor" contracts like you are wishing players do. Example: The 49ers didn't "honor" their contract with Armstead for this season by CUTTING HIM.
You do what you have the leverage to do. Aiyuk's leverage is to not practice and possibly not play.

@danlsteiner @timkawakami There’s roughly 90 people on earth who do that specific job. Maybe 5-8 are better than Aiyuk. It’s not even remotely the same. Plus the athletes have a limited window to capture the money they are worth. We’ll work for 30 years and will be replaced in two weeks if we quit.

@timkawakami I hate this about pro sports. Athletes sign a deal, don't honor it, don't show up to practice, all while making millions of dollars. I show up to my job making far less, and if I'm late a few times... I get fired.
