Our state's new laws have made it harder for Texans with disabilities to have their vote counted — on purpose and by design. We must overcome Abbott’s extreme voter suppression and ensure that Texans can have their voice heard in our democracy.

“Special needs” is just another way of saying that disabled people are a burden. It then becomes easier to deny disabled people the rights and services that others take for granted.

Dis/abled? Lose the slash. Dis-abled? Lose the dash. DisAbled? Lose the capital “A.” There’s nothing wrong with “Disabled.” Say the word. Use the word. Lose the euphemisms.
