The Texas Senate and I are already on top of this. I listed the exploitation of surrogacy as an important issue to study this interim and address next legislative session. On March 26, 2026, I issued the following interim charge to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee: "Combating the Exploitation of Surrogacy: Examine the unethical and foreign interests exploiting the surrogacy and fertility industries in Texas. Make recommendations to end this exploitation and related harm to patients and children." The Texas Senate held a productive hearing examining the exploitation of surrogacy yesterday. Justice Roberts and Justice Barrett’s decision to join the 3 liberal justices to continue birthright citizenship is a threat to our nation. They have made fighting to end birthright citizenship very difficult. The Texas Senate is not giving up on ending this exploitation. #txlege
