@RKTweets I think they'll balance the ledger a bit - Romero, Vicario, Bentancur etc - but focus has to be on quality. And hopefully this doesn't mean this nonsense about PL proven, look at Palhinha's fit for evidence of that fallacy, but more Romero, VdV, Kulu/Bentancur level impacts

@danrtgn Yup. A huge amount of business and let’s be honest over paying. The odd thing is I’m sure if we stay up they will spend. Maybe I’m naive. The Q for me is that we will have to overpay like city did with Robinho etc to start a movement. That’s an expensive game.

@RKTweets Subject to staying up, which is not a given, I think no Europe simplifies things. A proper manager is no 1, can learn that from Frank. It's a lot of business to do (GK, CB, LB, miscellaneous attacking midfielder at least) rather than £ which worries me, as we always leave gaps

@danrtgn Yes. And the investment needed now is so large. This was always my fear when we didn’t invest well or at times of strength - the opportunity cost then vs now when we are further behind is so much more. We have to overpay

@RKTweets Can definitely overthink that sort of stuff, Liverpool certainly look to have post Klopp. Stay in the league and next season offers a real chance to take what's working in the squad and slim the rest down, but need proper operators in to oversee it

I agree totally. It will be interesting where and what he does next. Brentford itself reminds me of Sevilla when we got Ramos - a structure so well done - the coach has only a specific smaller role. He also made huge mistakes and wasn’t bold, he spoke well but couldn’t execute or adapt. Maybe he will learn. I suspect Vinai and co want to make us a system club like brentford and Brighton. But I’m not sure how long that takes or if you can when you’re already a big club and not able to do it slowly as you grow.

Frank's work speaks for itself, but the lack of belief he engendered - plus letting the players sulk and blame the fans rather than take accountability and give them a structure to improve - was disgraceful

With the caveat that nothing is done yet, Tudor deserves credit tor turning round the belief, physical condition and technical level of this squad. Eg Sarr was playing deep last night, collecting and shielding the ball brilliantly. A bench and breaks between games should help

It could be. But also Ruben Amorim's Man Utd were near the European places with one game a week - stay in the league, never make a mistake like Frank again and who knows!
Tom Barclay@TomBarclay_

FT: #thfc 3-2 Atletico (5-7 on agg). Spurs given a standing ovation after winning it on the night (gaining Tudor's 1st W). That could be last European football here for some time. But the quality of that display (not just the fight, but the quality) gives real belief for PL fight

What a lad Archie Gray is. Always assumed it would be Gray deep, Bergvall further forward. But decent shout that swapping that would be a really good use of both

@InsideN17 Yes - sounds miserable but I'll take the positive vibes and avoid a potential crisis vs Barca to win 3-4 league games

@danrtgn Yea feel the exact same. Actually think 1-0/2-0 is the optimal result as really we need to focus on getting ourselves out of bother in the PL

why do we have to be 3 down to start games like this. Does so much to change the mood in the ground and shift momentum our way. imagine if we started the Palace game like this. We dont lose that 1-3 (maybe).

@RKTweets Nice to see Xavi playing with confidence too, we'll need everything we can get. And also good to see Tudor sticking with the (admittedly quite fluid) 4-4-2

@InsideN17 Yeah I agree, needs to carry through to the weekend - a win here, even if we go out is something to point to. We do seem to be slightly less afraid of the ball across this and the last two, results aside. small margins but I'll take what I can get

@danrtgn think we've just look scared in every game we've played and not had the confidence to experss ourselves. the circumstances today mean that theres nothing to lose, but we need to create this feeling in the PL

@tehTrunk I really like the cut of his jib publicly (been on the fence re the football but he's inherited a bin fire). In typical Spurs fashion though, the club spent the week briefing against him and then put him up for media - it's just really unfair on him, whether he's good or not

@TomFoins At least Vic took long enough to pass it to a player who doesn't want it to feet though

Romero and VdV are badly letting us down, but at least you can put that down to low levels of confidence and interest. Dragusin has always been a clogged toilet of a footballer

Not been sure on the 3 at the back prior to today but Tudor has pretty much nailed the messaging - yes it's challenging but it's also unacceptable and the players can only dig themselves out of it. Massive change from Frank's excuse-led 'culture'
