@RKTweets Unless you can get a MGW or Wharton - which feels unlikely to me - I'd probably swerve the PL market lest we get a Johnson (sorry Brennan), Richarlison or Solanke again. Does rely on us scouting properly to avoid further Ndombeles and Gils though, and well...

Yeah I agree. I don’t mind this - but the drop from Kane and son to this last two years has been so huge. We need to add principly the same things as last year really - PL established players - but I’d add in a proper striker now too and goals ultimately. I like Gibbs white even more this summer

I can get on board with this - although I’d suggest the fee should absolutely be less than last summer - even with the contract. But ultimately as ever - literally every summer - we need to make sure we add actually game changing PL ready players. We’d do worse than going back to Gibbs White too. But a new striker or two. New CMs. New AM too. It’s a lot of work.

🚨 #Tottenham are ready to go back in for Savinho and are preparing to reopen negotiations with Manchester City! Both Roberto Di Zerbi and people at Spurs want him. Savinho is quite open to the move, regardless of no European football. [@FabrizioRomano] 🥇

@RKTweets The bits about winding down scouting and then just never sorting it, no wonder we only sign so many bog standard 'PL proven' players. Also a marketing department who had no idea about the fan / customer base... feels very true

This may be the most damning of the commute within the club and the mistakes made by the leadership group. It’s like textbook corporate failure. Football is still such an amateur business - we got so lucky and that’s almost certainly down to RDZ. Weak decision making. A lack of vision and team ship. No culture. Huge jobs to fix. thetimes.com/article/c12872…

@NicJ_27 I'm sure in the abstract I'm sure it's great, but ignoring the main cause of their mood at that point (Frank) and thinking cake would solve it probably explains a lot

@KidiabaPonyTail @charlieparrish If we're classing Maddison and however Xavi comes back as attackers, I'd only really start with Gray and Bentancur as must keeps. Then see what else you can do accordingly re Bergvall

Something like this for next season? ▪️Quite a lot of CMs, but guess Gallagher might be utilised further forward for certain games, esp until Xavi is back ▪️Do one of Odobert, Tel or Moore get loaned? Prob have to see how Deki is ▪️Simply have to get more goals into the group

@charlieparrish I'd like Scott, but we'd need to make space - maybe one or two surprise exits in addition to the obvious ones. Re Solanke, I'm hoping someone like Eddie Howe has a panic. Let him miss a Tyne-Weir derby with a sore throat

@danrtgn I just can’t shake this idea that Scott is exactly what we need in terms of local hero/fan in terms of general culture reset. I too would sell Solanke but just can’t see a market for him this summer

@JosephDarb83861 If I'm being charitable to him, he deferred too long to the football people (Lange, Frank, then Paratici with Tudor) which I guess he's meant to do. But also it would be good to get some actually useful football people in to defer to, alongside RDZ

@danrtgn I do think vinai is trying to change things for both sides of the club. On the board this season has a lot of changes and changes that continued to happen across the season

@KidiabaPonyTail Think RDZ said he's an emotional guy... visibly looked to have the weight of the world on him post Christmas. His looking like a misery guys is his equivalent to Romero running 80 yards forward for no reason. One who hopefully will excel in a better structure / team environment

@adamdnathan 100%. Was a bit in the second half where the ball went back to him, I think with Barry pressing. He then moved it out right. Standard stuff, but we've seen at least a year (to be generous to Vicario) of the failure to do the basics shitting everyone up. Same for Kinsky on crosses

It wasn’t just the three or four saves that Kinsky made that were crucial, it was the ability to use him as an actual footballer when we had the ball. I don’t see any way we could’ve kept the same level of control yesterday, or against Villa, if Vicario was in goal.

@JosephDarb83861 Based on how the football side has been treated post Baldini/Mitchell (either no structure or hiring a series of no marks like Munn), I'm sure the whole place is a mess

@danrtgn I think it is also interesting in the sky sports article that says staff culture inside Lilywhite House and Hotspur Way. Put simply Tottenham had become not a very nice place to work. Departments had been allowed to drift apart.

@JosephDarb83861 I took it as the staff shouldn't be expected to lift the players, which is true. It would be great to be functional, but in most clubs the culture is driven by the football (manager and players). We had a complete charlatan for 8 months who was happy to create an excuses culture

@danrtgn The article is interesting it seems like the whole culture of the club is toxic and the staff were blaming the players.

Lots in here that's funny or that rings true. But unduly kind on Frank - the idea he suffered from an absent club culture... so, create one? That's supposedly your strength, you can't outsource it all to a series of nobodies. RDZ has and has removed all excuses in 7 games

@charlieparrish Just nice to have someone with some standards. Too many embarrassments stemming from that, epitomised by having a manager that actively encouraged an environment where the players huddled at half time

@danrtgn Only thing this board have done this season of any note is to have found the right number to awaken his competitive spirit so he joined early. Get Senesi, Robertson asap and start to reset the culture in a profound way.

Yes the board have been atrocious & we should stay mad, but we can feel excited about having the right coach. RDZ has been able to stress-test the players, and earn huge credit with group and fans. You could see him at the end gazing at the south stand appreciating the potential.
Tom Allnutt@TomAllnutt_

Make no mistake, Tottenham were heading down when De Zerbi took over. They’d taken one point from their last seven league games, the players looked dead and buried. He’s built them back up, with tactics, good coaching, man-management. Took the job nobody wanted and made it work.

Kolo Muani and Bissouma are gone contractually. But hopefully no need to see the likes of Vicario - negotiating his move while we were in the mud - Romero, Solanke again. Then Richarlison can go with my genuine best wishes. Big summer ahead

@charlieparrish He gets it, in quite a profound way - how to set up a team in a way that livens a stadium that's just a bit too big, how to engage players etc. They should be thanking their lucky stars he said yes, I certainly am

It’s so much better than had Spurs scraped through with a caretaker (not that they would’ve survived) and be looking for a new perm coach now. RDZ can demand whatever he wants from a board who should be eating out of the palm of his hand, and hit the ground running for pre-season
