@gilbert A brand that defined my childhood and my friends. Nintendo power is the greatest magazine of the 80s.

So pumped for the first @AcquiredFM episode of the year dropping tomorrow. Recorded 8 hours in studio. Condensed it down to the best 4. Most effort ever spent in the edit but I think it'll be worth it.

@sama That with a long enough time horizon, karma permeates the business world. The more value you create, the more value you receive in return.

haven’t seen this as a twitter thread, so: what true thing do you believe that few people agree with you on?

@chrisyeh And that Disney can amortize character IP across a much more sophisticated Monetization model. Disney+ is a tactic, not the strategy.

Disney+ is winning because it understands a simple fact: If you have at least one hit show releasing new episodes every week, your subscribers will be happy to pay. thestreet.com/investing/netf…

@gilbert That’s what I was trying to get at. If you understood how value scales with selection in books, you’d conclude that the internet was not going to be a fad and that other buying considerations would be overpowered.

Amazing that the initial key insight for Borders Books was the same as for Amazon. Just... an order of magnitude smaller :)

@DavidSacks @elonmusk That’s not right David. You can test the error with a binomial distribution. This is the Law of Large Numbers. Twitter samples 9,000 per quarter or 36,000 per year. At 5% sampled mean the standard error is sqrt(5% x 95%/36K) = 0.36%. Twitter is right.

Free algorithm to discover new startup ideas: take any high quality thing people do today that requires taste/craftsmanship/skill and figure out how to make it so common people can achieve it. Example: well designed, interactive, highly polished OpenAI style blog posts.

@triketora Ask them about their thoughts on great teams and see if they naturally bring it up. Or ask them what they’re most proud of and see how diversity is mentioned. Or ask them to reflect on a deep DEI question and see how deep they can go.
