People are already asking about WSOP fantasy?!?!?! Even by my standards I'll be playing a light schedule.
Plan is to do two trips, one for 50k, 100k, 250k, and a second trip around the 10k 8game and Main event and whatever postlims. Always possible I get sucked into WSOP vortex with 25k plo , PPC etc.
Have a very niche question for double up drive, need to consult a non profit tax attorney. Someone wants to donate a % of their hedge fund and we are unsure how to proceed/if that is something we can do without losing 501c3.
Any leads please message info@doubleupdrive.org
While I agree it is theoretically possible for some, I personally wouldn’t encourage anyone to try it these days. Even ignoring the tax situation (which is brutal)it’s just way less lucrative for 99.9% than it used to be.
I feel making $250k/year in EV used to be relatively easy and now it’s not
People say the poker dream is dead, but the ladder from a smallest stakes to the top is still intact. Most of the guys I battle in the bigger stuff started at the absolute bottom. The barrier isn’t the money, it’s the work. If you have the drive, the path to the high rollers is still wide open.
@DanSmithHolla@JeffreyBenson12@CircaSports Loading up against Djokovic losing 3-0 is dumb. He has the way fresher legs and will play the first two sets with like they are the superbowl
@rob_yong_ everyone needs to stop bitching .. the tournament was fun .. and all the recs i spoke to enjoyed it .. only thing needs to change is early starts each day and earlier finishes ... start at 9 a.m ( max 10 a.m )
Seen lot of anti RE LR comments, only time I got FO to work was online, for live events - expenses & travel - I failed spectacularly with FO, maybe:
1] multi day 1s, FO each day - RE next day 1
2] single day 1, UL RE to 50bbs
Still guessing, committed to trying. KTF Rob 🙏
I think reentry generally isn't so bad. If people want to get in 100+bb over and over again I doubt players are going to mind.
It's the really late registration (coming in with 12.5bb in some cases) that is the issue. 1) This takes EV from the people who play the tournament from the beginning 2) Just generally makes for a much less enjoyable experience IMO. And makes the tournament much shallower throughout.
Generally I like the the idea if you want to play a prestigious tournament, you need to play with deep stacks.
@DanSmithHolla That's surprises me a little. What is pretty universally thought of as the greatest poker tournament in the world? I'm going to assume you're going to say the world series main. The reason that tournament is so good is the structure, size of buyin, and lack of rebuy right?
@drynyks No, they are risking less $ for a chance at a payout. As you rebuy , you are buying more chances at a cost. It's fair
People who play from the beginning are getting a bit "diluted" though by the max late reggers coming in with 12.5bb
@DanSmithHolla Dan cool what's up? I'm a fan. Hey so this is been bugging me since summer WSOP. Aren't the single buyin players getting diluted? They extend payouts per buy in. I think it all works fine if they would just do payouts based on asses and chairs. What do you think about that?
@drynyks I think allowing lots of reentries with shallow stacks is bad for the game in lots of ways, including just having an enjoyable experience. IMO it's one of the biggest issues right now with poker.
If someone wants to get in for 10 bullets by getting in 50+bb, I say let them.
@DanSmithHolla Serious question? Do you think firing like 10 bullets at a WSOP event is a good thing for the game? Do you think even having events that allow that are good for the game?
I made a new twitter account to get extra practice with the language. If you’re one of my Japanese followers please give me a follow at @odowaiya and I will follow you back. I will try to post daily even if it’s just a silly photo from my travels or a new phrase I’ve learned.
About 2.5 months ago I started trying to learn Japanese. I am still very, very bad at it but I am slowly making progress. I can read hiragana and katakana now but am still at the very beginning when it comes to vocabulary, grammar and kanji.
Any of yall researched infrared home saunas? My new building won’t let me get traditional for fire safety/insurance reasons.
And while I don’t love infrared (generally just doesn’t feel hot enough IME), figure it’s gotta be better than no sauna.
