If hitting advice sounds magical, it is lying to you. Real improvement does not feel magical. It feels repetitive. It feels frustrating. It even makes you question whether you are wasting your time. Progress doesn't feel like it's happening. It's hiding in the shadows. It shows up weeks later, after doing the same boring work while 'nothing' seems to change. No, you are not legitimately gaining 9mph of bat speed in one day. No, it's not possible to NEVER SWING AND MISS AGAIN. Anyone promising that is selling magic fairy dust, not development. You will still miss. You will still struggle. You will still doubt yourself. That part never goes away. No matter how good you get. How elite hitters separate themselves is simple: Elite hitters remember the whole point of this.. Elite hitters train to win at bats and games. Average hitters train to look good in practice. They don't workout to post online. They workout to light up the box score. They're rewarded when it matters. With wins and stats, not likes and shares. When I ask elite hitters what actually moved the needle when they were younger, the answer is never complicated. They mastered the basics. They trained their mind. They trained to be aggressive. They trained to never settle for average. And they showed up every day while others chased shortcuts. Focus + consistency is EVERYTHING.

The story of @CrownUpGuy winning everything before his 26th birthday kinda messed up my perception of success. Logically, I can’t set any goals like winning my first @WSOP ring or bracelet this year. So instead this year, at 26, my goal: Just show up. Be 1% better everyday.

@chalie_hook @rob_yong_ since you won a bracelet there and are one of the chosen poker people, can you also suggest that if a tournament bags after 2 am, the start time is the closest 10th hour for the restart automatically @WSOP the change the same day for day 3 of the super main was ridiculous

Seen lot of anti RE LR comments, only time I got FO to work was online, for live events - expenses & travel - I failed spectacularly with FO, maybe: 1] multi day 1s, FO each day - RE next day 1 2] single day 1, UL RE to 50bbs Still guessing, committed to trying. KTF Rob 🙏

So now it’s the tournament organizer’s fault when bankrolls get crushed? What about bankroll management? What about not playing the event? What about selling action? Where’s the self-accountability? If you choose to play and you go broke, there’s exactly one person responsible. And it’s not the tournament organizer.
Nadya Magnus@NadyaKGB

2/4 It’s not good for poker and it’s not sustainable. It’s a lottery. I’m not saying it because I played and didn’t cash. I’m saying it because I’ve seen people’s dreams crushed, bankrolls vanished and mindsets destroyed.

A common poker thing, while it is fun to be tricky often you just want to play your good hands like good hands and go for stacks. Not stacking AA here kills the ev of your peel pre. I think this is one of the biggest take aways from solvers that people could learn, you never take an inferior ev action for the sake of balance. If you want to know more about that and other hard learned heuristic you can sign up for a week of hands on coaching from me, @rumnchess , @Amo4sho , and @xxl23 at vcamp.poker

I don’t like the fold. BUT - being willing to fold here, AND then trust your reads enough to make crazy folds and crazy calls, is what separates mediocre players from elite ones. Most of the time, it prints a shit ton of money for top pros. Sometimes, it looks incredibly stupid. Yes CasinoBob, you would’ve called here, we get it. But in 9 other spots you can’t fold where you are behind because "you can´t fold," and miss money-printing bluffs or hero calls - because “it would look stupid.” Then you complain: “I’m nOt RuNnInG aS gOoD aS tHeM.” No. You are too afraid too look stupid. You don't want to be pushed around. You want to be "balanced". Or whatever bullshit you are telling yourself to justify your plays. And that's why you are not crushing.

Seeing a lot of hate on Jesse for this fold and it’s eye opening to me. Jesse has been having phenomenal results the last couple years, precisely because he is willing to trust himself in these type of spots. He got this one wrong, but how often is he getting it right, and getting away from coolers that most humans just shrug and go broke on? The easy play is to call here and lament your bad luck. The difficult, above the rim plays require a trust in yourself that few possess. Instead of viewing this hand and thinking “What a terrible fold, he is bad,” realize this is just one hand and doesn’t encompass a players full skill set. Small minds make this mistake constantly. If the guy had the straight, Jessie is a genius, but because he was bluffing he is the fool? It’s a fine line, and if you don’t understand this you can never unlock your full potential. “It is not the critic who counts…”
