I think this stat is inflated a bit due to CJ being listed as a S and Gordon, a CB, being injured most of the season. While the defensive scheme didn't change, if Gordon was healthy, being listed as a CB would bring this stat down. Again, same defense and DA's MO is playing a lot of Big Nickel with Safety/NB hybrids. A healthy Gordon is like having a Big Nickel on all downs. What's great about adding Bryant & Thieneman, in theory, is that offenses won't know who is BN, FS, SS or NB. Alignment won't dictate assignment which gives DA a lot of opportunities to disguise his defense and confuse the offense. I really hope we get a healthy Gordon all season, but if he isn't, Muhammad NB & Cam Lewis BN are decent depth pieces that won't change up the scheme.

Bears are currently in the bottom quartile of cash spending for 2026. Packers & Lions aren’t playing around and both are at/near Top 10 Apart from the Vikings who are similar to the Bears, the Bears are surrounded by some of the poorest performing teams in NYJ, ARI, LV, NO & MIA (which makes sense earlier in a rebuild) Meanwhile SEA, DEN, KC, PHI, BAL, BUF & SF are among the top I hoped Bears would at least invest league average in cash coming in a year after a playoff appearance, especially given the continued weakness in the DL I know they have upcoming extensions (Darnell Wright this year, Caleb next year, etc), but it’s hard to compete when you aren’t investing as much as teams toward the top. And cash spending is a lever you can pull to increase roster investment and circumvent the cap Perhaps they will make a trade at the deadline & are reserving flexibility for that I also get that the Bears don’t have a separate income stream outside of the team which puts them at a disadvantage But I just don’t get the strategy to be so conservative when you have a playoff caliber team

Find it fucking hilarious how as recent as week 8 of last season Cowherd was actually floating the idea that Ben didn’t like working with Caleb and that he could be benched Mind you, the game right after he said this was the Bengals game Generation, all time switchup

@JCowleyHoops He has the frame. I’m not disappointed at all. Jimmy Butler, Julian Phillips, Dalen Terry…. I’m hoping he develops into something useful in the next year or two.

There were definitely some players ballin' out in Vegas that were selected after Dailyn Swain, but the Bulls are confident the rookie will get through the growing pains ... Read it ... chicago.suntimes.com/bulls/2026/07/…

@Kirsten_Tanis1 When I say inaccurate, I’m thinking Mitch throwing to the left or Tim Tebow. I thought Caleb was alarmingly inaccurate on his deep throws as a rookie. Reminiscent of Caleb WILSON’s 3FG shooting right now. Looks fine to me. Way too early to hang inaccurate on either guy.

I mean I don’t disagree that he’s inaccurate. That is true. But the stuff he is inaccurate at is more the layups than the 5 star throws And part of the inaccuracy is also WRs in a complex and highly precise new offense who also made errors. It was mostly Caleb but not all Not saying he doesn’t have to improve here. But you are willing to live with some inaccuracy when he seeks explosives and pushes the ball downfield with a longer ADOT because that does naturally have lower completion rates than being a Checkdown Charlie. And the EPA bit on throwing the ball away more cs taking a sack is also smart

Nice to see that the ability to lead comebacks & close to win games is valued more highly than standalone completion percentage (which in & of itself is not the most important single statistic to QB success) Congrats to Caleb for making this list in Y1 with Ben.
