@AhmadulXadim @PicturesUssr No, ethnic Russian or French is an ethnicity, an exceedingly important identity component in the modern world. And yes, it is a scientific term - sociology, anthropology, politology and other social sciences are very well aware of its existence.
English

@danvolodar @PicturesUssr Ethnic Russian or French just means white. That’s not a scientific term. You are mixing up common parlance with scientific terms.
English

@AhmadulXadim @PicturesUssr French and Russian are not only nationalities, but ethnicities, too. So a Chechen is a Russian, but not an ethnic Russian. While I am specifically talking about ethnicities.
English

@danvolodar @PicturesUssr French and Russian (Slavs are not Turkic) are absolutely not ethnicities but nationalities.
I am not sure whether you are trolling with your first sentence.
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr I'm reasonably sure it's not a mirror with a username of @romanov2026 talking to me right now.
English

@danvolodar @FigBjork @PicturesUssr you can discuss unanswered judaic questions to your mirror all you want, but if you’re not a bochur and not even a yid it’s *probably* not going to be a wise spending of your time
English

@Jetpakrider @theitiev @ElUltimoChompy @PicturesUssr Nothing there supports your claim that the USSR wanted to destroy Jewish culture.
English

QME

@Jetpakrider @theitiev @ElUltimoChompy @PicturesUssr Wanted to destroy their culture so much they wrote posters in their language, yep.
English

@theitiev @ElUltimoChompy @PicturesUssr No, they wanted to destroy both culture and religion and targeted Judaism far more than Eastern Orthodoxy. They also prevented Jews from leaving the Union
English

@AtticTruther @Waff1n5 @PicturesUssr Tbf, Eastern European food without pork sounds about as appetizing as an unsalted cracker
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr Of course not, why would I be? Do you need to be a star to discuss astronomy?
English

@AhmadulXadim @PicturesUssr Chinese or Black Jews still have direct lines of descent from the Iron Age population of kingdoms of Israel and Judea.
Britons, Gascons and Burgundians, or Cossacks in Krasnodar and Pomors in Arkhangelsk are also phenotypically different, yet French and Russian ethnicities exist.
English

@danvolodar @PicturesUssr How can Jew be an ethnicity when there’s Jews of all colors.
Are Chinese or black Jews any less Jewish then?
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr I don't think I do, unless the point is antisemitism simply for antisemitism's sake.
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr You can ask them and discover a shared identity. Same as you can ask an ethnic Russian from Pskov and Kamchatka, or a French from Brittany and Burgundy.
English

@danvolodar @FigBjork @PicturesUssr i’m not denying the existence of ashkenazi bottlenecks or the expulsion of jews from the iberian peninsula. i’m saying there’s no way to prove with contemporary technology that both these groups share more than a religion
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr You could say the same for the Jewish ethnicity: ethnogenesis within specific geographic borders, connects them with contemporary shared identity.
Plenty of ethnic identities, say, in the post-Soviet space are hardly a century old, yet no one denies their existence.
English

@danvolodar @FigBjork @PicturesUssr french and russian ethnicity are called that because it confirms specific subsets of ethnogenesis within these specific modern geographic borders which thus connects them with some kind of contemporary shared identity. it’s completely meaningless to me
English

@danvolodar @romanov2026 @PicturesUssr Leave your religious fantasies out of facts. The bible doesn’t even claim Israelites are indigenous to Canaan. Which CONTRADICTS reality. using a bible or any religious text to try & prove easily provable genetics is pathetic. Here is who is indigenous to “Judea” clear as day.

English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr No, I am directly refuting it by analogy.
Either French, Russian and Jewish ethnicities all exist, or none of them do, because subethnic groups are present in each of them (and a lot of other ethnicities just as well, other than the most minuscule ones).
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr Yeah, school history courses largely skip the Mesopotamian history, but it's pretty hardcore, and certainly no less interesting or consequential than the Greek city-states, for instance.
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr Do you apply the same reasoning to the French ethnicity, so do you consider Bretons, Gascons and Burgundians separate ethnicities? Same thing for the aforementioned Krasnodar Cossacks, Arkhangelsk Pomors, and Kamchadals - does Russian ethnicity not exist, by your logic?
English

@danvolodar @FigBjork @PicturesUssr i’m not saying ashkenazim or sephardim are not ethnicities, i’m saying that simply “jewish” is not, and even then it’s still incredibly hard to proof what exactly the “ethnos” of the jewish people is, where for some of them it begins and where for some of them it ends 🤷
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr Sepharidic Jews shouldn't be.
The Bible actually does have historic credentials, as much as any book of legendary lore. The Babylonian captivity is attested in the contemporary Neo-Babylonian sources, for instance.
English

@romanov2026 @FigBjork @PicturesUssr Germans and Russians currently don't. But plenty of religions have mythic all-progenitors, including Germanic paganism.
I fail to see why Bavarians and Swabians or Krasnodar Cossacks and Arkhangelsk Pomors are considered parts of their respective ethnicities, but Ashkenazi and>
