Markets are tanking. Oil is spiking. And guess who pays? You do. That’s the legacy of Trump’s reckless, war-by-tweet chaos that has created instability abroad and higher prices at home. We can’t afford another war of choice or another round of economic whiplash. Congress needs to pass the war powers resolution now.

Donald Trump just imposed a 10% tariff tax that will jack up prices for California families- groceries, gas, and everyday goods. The Supreme Court already said he didn’t have the authority, and now he’s abusing a loophole to push through another reckless scheme. Trump’s tariffs are a hidden tax on working people and small businesses and California will pay the price first. I’ll stand up to Donald Trump and stop Washington games from hurting our economy.

What happened in Minneapolis is a vivid and tragic reminder that immigration enforcement without clear guardrails violate our civil liberties and can cost lives. Trump and his ICE thugs shooting unarmed innocent people, kidnapping children, and busting into homes without a warrant cannot be tolerated in the United States of America. The senate must hold the line in defense of our basic constitutional rights.

A year ago today, our community changed forever. The fires that tore through Altadena, Pacific Palisades, and so many neighborhoods across Los Angeles took lives, homes, histories, and a sense of safety that can’t be rebuilt. While walls go up and schools reopen, the grief, trauma and financial strain many families carry are still very real. Recovery isn’t just about reconstruction. It’s about people. About neighbors still fighting insurers, families still displaced and communities doing their best to heal while the rest of the world moves on. Today is a moment to remember those we lost, to champion the courage of our firefighters and first responders, and to honor the resilience of those still rebuilding. The work isn’t finished and neither is our responsibility to one another.

California families deserve support, not punishment. Trump is targeting California and slashing billions in federal funds that help parents afford safe, quality child care. Trump’s actions will drive up costs for hard-working families and force programs to close. We cannot stand by as Washington puts politics ahead of kids. The LA Times’ report on the 5,700 missing Native women and girls each year is a heartbreaking reminder of the work still ahead. I stand with Tribal Nations demanding accountability and real action, from stronger support for MMIP efforts to funding for tribal law enforcement and reforms that ensure no victim is overlooked. I am horrified by the news of Charlie Kirk’s tragic death after being shot at Utah Valley University. Political violence is abhorrent and has no place in our democracy. We can debate our ideas, disagree passionately, and fight hard at the ballot box but we must never accept violence as a substitute for dialogue. My thoughts are with Charlie Kirk’s family, friends, and loved ones in this unimaginable moment of grief. As Californians, as Americans, we must recommit ourselves to civility, safety, and respect. No one should fear for their life simply for speaking their mind. We reject political violence in every form and I will continue to fight for a politics that is worthy of our democracy.
