@RyanReynoldsNFL I’ve been riding the Packers the last few weeks after someone dropped them. Their D seems matchup proof so far. Any reason not to keep riding them?

NFL Week 7 Fantasy Football Defense Rankings Bills Defense vs. Titans Will Levis has 7 interceptions, 3 fumbles and he’s taken 15 sacks over his five games this season, which is really 4 games as he threw 4 passes against Miami before leaving with an injury. Levis had 95 passing yards against the Colts last week. Ultimately, this is a bet against Levis in a game Buffalo is projected to win by margin. If Mason Rudolph ends up playing, my Bills enthusiasm would dip a bit, but I’d still have them as the top defense this week. Steelers Defense vs. Jets Over their last three games, the Jets have struggled mightily in pass protection against the Bills, Vikings and Broncos. I know its popular to dislike Aaron Rodgers but the truth is, things would be much worse for a QB that isn’t as good as he is in pressure management. You could argue that the Steelers have a better pass rush than any of those teams. That said, no surprise if this game is low scoring and close. Eagles Defense at Giants The Eagles haven’t really impressed me, but it looks like Giants LT Andrew Thomas is going to be sidelined, which means the Giants offensive line likely goes back to being a liability in Thomas’s absence. Commanders Defense vs. Panthers This is primarily a bet against the Panthers bottom tier offense in a game where Washington could hang serious points on Carolina. That said, Andy Dalton has done a good job limiting turnovers and sacks over the Panthers last two, decisive losses. Bengals Defense at Browns Daniel Jones has a habit of making opposing pass rushes look good, so I’m not overcounting Cincinnati’s performance against the Giants last week. I am, however, comfortable streaming just about anyone against Cleveland at this point. One caveat that I’ll throw in here is that I expect a defensive surge from the Browns, and they dominated Joe Burrow’s Bengals in a game early last year. Otherwise, I might actually have the Bengals second on this list in this matchup. Vikings Defense vs. Lions Generally, I’d be interested in betting on a down week from Detroit after their assault on the Cowboys. That said, the Lions have the dynamic skill group to exploit Minnesota if Detroit’s premium offensive line can handle the Vikings’ pressure looks. On the other hand, Jared Goff is a pressure sensitive quarterback and Minnesota has given plenty of high-caliber offenses problems to date. Jaguars Defense vs. Patriots Jacksonville has the advantage of playing in London last week (so they don’t have that unique travel, where NE does) and they have a talented four man pass rush. Those are two variables that give the Jaguars a ton of ceiling, especially against a rookie quarterback in his second NFL start. What concerns me, beyond Jacksonville being one of the league’s most disappointing teams, is that there have been rumors of Jaguars players quitting or locker room friction at multiple points, over several weeks now. Ravens Defense at Buccaneers If you get good Baker Mayfield Monday night, this option could bomb against what has been a still disappointing Ravens pass defense. But if you get bad Baker Mayfield in primetime, the Ravens defense has a lot of upside. Jets Defense at Steelers Justin Fields took 16 sacks and had 6 fumbles to go with his lone interception over his six Steelers starts, but he also threw for under 160 passing yards in four starts. I get why Pittsburgh has pivoted to Russell Wilson. However, Wilson likely gives the Jets more sack opportunities, as he’ll likely throw more. Broncos Defense at Saints The Saints have a ton of injuries on offense, with Spencer Rattler likely to start along with two linemen and their three best skill players all with an injury uncertainty. Unfortunately, Patrick Surtain is injured on the Broncos side of things and their offense probably doesn’t do a lot of scoring themselves in New Orleans. The Broncos defense has a ton of potential this week, but this looks like a rock fight in the Big Easy, similar to when I was lower than consensus on Dolphins vs. Patriots a few weeks ago, just with better defensive rosters in this matchup (which is also why they are both ranked). Rams Defense vs. Raiders This is entirely a bet on a well-coached Rams team, coming off a bye, against the mess that is the Las Vegas Raiders who 1. Have Aidan O’Connell and quarterback and 2. Just waived the white flag after trading Devante Adams. Saints Defense vs. Broncos If Derek Carr and the Saints skill group were all a 100% ready to go, I’d actually love the Saints defense this week. Since New Orleans offense has been decimated by injuries, I expect a very conservative, low scoring game this Thursday night.

Derrick Henry is currently averaging 117.3 yards per game. In 2021 (the 8 games before his broken foot), Henry averaged 117.1 yards per game. Guys, it’s the SAME Derrick Henry and you let him walk out the door.

NFL Week 5: Here's what I'm looking at Quick Hits: - Teams on bye: Lions, Chargers, Eagles, Titans - Looking forward to not having to watch the Titans this week. - How on earth is Texans vs. Bills a 1:00 PM game? Thank the lord I get to watch football in a multi-TV basement. - From a pure talent standpoint, I think Houston is either close or outright better than Buffalo at every position group. - Given that, I view that matchup as a variable game, meaning it has clear potential to go over 60 total points, where a 20-17 outcome is very much on the table as well. - Further, I could see the first three weeks being the peak of the Bills season, where I don’t think Houston is even close to hitting their ceiling yet. - Cincinnati’s defense is well coached, but it’s been talent poor for years and that’s consistently showing now. - You can’t really run on the Ravens, which means this one is almost entirely on Joe Burrow. - It is not entirely on Lamar Jackson, as Baltimore is one of the few teams in the league that can win games in multiple styles on any given Sunday. Could see Baltimore coming out slinging it early here. - Think this game is a perfect example of the importance of playing for a smart organization, as Joe Burrow looks like he may be stuck for a long time, similar to how Andrew Luck was, where Lamar Jackson doesn’t have to outright carry his offense anymore. - Vikings vs. Jets is a fascinating game because the Jets have a better roster than Minnesota, but the Vikings have been one of the better coached teams while New York has been among the worst. - That game will boil down to the Jets offensive line, that was horrible against Denver last week. - Bears vs. Panthers: Matt Eberflus may not be the answer as a head coach, but he’s a very good defensive mind. Much of the Rams offense last week was generated by inbreaking timing routes where Matthew Stafford is one of the few quarterbacks in the league that would have been able to execute at the level he did given his supporting cast. - It’s hard to see the Panthers offense having more success than the Rams did last week, and the Rams had moderate success. - Shane Waldron started to call a more purposeful offense in the second half last week, hoping that’s how the Bears start this week. If Caleb Williams plays well, the Bears could win this game by 3 scores. - This is a backs up against the wall game for the Jaguars against a mediocre Colts team. Jaguars led against Houston last week for most of the contest, think they get their first win here and I’ve played it that way in all my winner pools. - Also, if 39-year-old Joe Flacco is your best option at quarterback, you don’t have a quarterback. - Perhaps the most obvious thing coming into the year was that the Patriots weren’t going to be better off without Bill Belichick. It might be in everyone’s best interest if the league skips this game and just gives both teams a tie. - However, it would be nice to see Mike McDaniel essentially create a win against one of the league’s weakest rosters. - I think Jayden Daniels is for real, but he’s faced very little pressure over the last two games against the Bengals and Cardinals where his below average group of pass catchers were able to achieve some layups. Don’t think that happens against desperate Cleveland this week. - That said, Washington’s defense has already improved under Dan Quinn and that group could do enough to win this game even if Daniels struggles. Still, I like Cleveland as a leverage play in winner pools. - Denver’s defense has been one of the more surprising units this season, as they have played like a top-5 group. They seem to be catching the Raiders, who are a few plays away from being 0-4, at the right time given the drama caused by a, you guessed it, wide receiver. - That said, the Vegas defensive front could carry this game. - I expected Arizona to struggle early in the year against a tough schedule, before peaking late against weaker opponents, where they’d enter next season as a buzz team. But they’ve been bad in their last two games. - 49ers offense has the raw materials to shred the Cardinals, but that group sneakily let NE hang around last week. - The Rams have who I’d call the league’s second-best coach and a Hall of Fame quarterback, but they are otherwise limited everywhere else. Green Bay has one of the league’s most complete rosters. - Not sure what’s going on with Romeo Doubs, but if these rumors are true he’s not good enough to put up with shit like this. - I’m not a believer in Seattle, who gave up 42 points to the Lions last week. That said, Daniel Jones struggles against pressure/ exotic looks, and Mike Macdonald will no doubt exploit that. - The Giants defense has enough talent to give Seattle a scare, but Malik Nabers being sidelined genuinely reduces the stability of New York’s offense. - It would not surprise me if Jalyn Hyatt got a long one here. - Cowboys defensive injuries completely eliminated my enthusiasm for this game, but this one is now almost entirely on Dak Prescott’s shoulders. - I’m not a big believer in the Saints, but I think they keep this one close Monday night. I'm not going to bullshit you, so, to be clear, I decided to do most of my content on Twitter, for free this year to grow my following. So, if you enjoy this type of content, my requirement is likes/ bookmarks/ retweets/ engagement to further that goal.

To add some fantasy football strategy to how I manage defenses: I'm in a $500 entry fee home league that pays for most points. I have the Bears, but I streamed the Texans last week, then dropped Houston for a Samaje Perine dart. On that team, I'll stream someone for Chicago's Week 7 bye, but I otherwise plan to play the Bears through Week 10. Then I'll potentially pivot given their schedule. I may even try to trade them if they smash through their soft schedule stretch.
Ryan Reynolds@RyanReynoldsNFL

NFL Week 3 Fantasy Football Defense Rankings Browns Defense vs. Giants I’m not going to get cute here, but a shutout is on the table for Cleveland. Could genuinely see the Browns defense winning this game entirely on their own. Buccaneers Defense vs. Broncos I’ve said it many times now but Bo Nix is not ready and Todd Bowles is going to blitz the daylights out of this guy. If the Bucs can play with a lead, this one could get ugly. Jets Defense vs. Patriots The Jets lost former first round edge rusher Jermaine Johnson and Haason Reddick continues to be a no show. I still think the Jets’ defense could have a dominant outing, especially if they play with a lead and force New England to throw, but that pass rush reduction reduces my enthusiasm some. Bears Defense at Colts The Bears are a top five defense, if not the league’s best, and Anthony Richardson showed last week that he can be a turnover machine against a highly talented defense. There’s some concern that Chicago’s offense continues to generate nothing, putting the defense in precarious spots, but if the Bears can play with a lead, I love their upside in this matchup. Seahawks Defense vs. Dolphins Seattle has not impressed me through the first two games, slipping past two of the league’s five worst teams. Quarterback volatility is an obvious concern for Miami, as is their offensive line, but Mike McDaniel had a long week to prepare for this game. It would not surprise me if Miami covered in this matchup. Raiders Defense vs. Panthers The Raiders would be higher on this list if Bryce Young was making the start, but veteran Andy Dalton gives Carolina more short-term stability, which reduces some of the upside the Vegas defense has in what is still a very strong matchup. In particular, the Raiders inside/ out duo of Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkens falls somewhere between problematic and game derailing for Carolina. Colts Defense vs. Bears DeForest Buckner being ruled out reduces some of my enthusiasm here, as he’s still the lynchpin in the Colts defense. The Bears offensive line has struggled through the first two games, but without Buckner, the Colts will be the weakest front Chicago has faced so far this year. Still, streaming against Caleb Williams is not an unreasonable stance at this juncture. Packers Defense at Titans I lean towards the Packers losing this game, because they are limited though the air with Malik Willis and they essentially showed their hand last week. If Jordan Love plays for some reason, I’d elevate Green Bay up into the top five on this list. But as things stand now, I like their upside but the Packers offense could make this a muddy game with limited turnover opportunities. Chiefs Defense at Falcons The Chiefs defense has been a rock solid unit against two of the best quarterbacks in the game. Kirk Cousins has said himself he’s not 100%. Chances are Cousins has to play from behind at some point in this matchup. Ravens Defense at Cowboys I don’t think Baltimore starts 0-3 and they have all the tools in the world to limit CeeDee Lamb, which means Dak Prescott will have to use the rest of his mediocre supporting cast against one of the league’s best secondaries, coming off an embarrassing loss. Bills Defense vs. Jaguars Trevor Lawrence’s offense has been underwhelming this season, after a mediocre 2023 showing. Buffalo is coming off a long week and their pass rush has been a bit better than I expected to this point. Bengals Defense vs. Commanders I expect the Bengals to play with a lead where this then becomes a bet against Kliff Kingsbury’s ability to guide a young quarterback. In fact, there is a massive strategic disparity between Bengals DC Lou Anarumo and Kingsbury.

Kevin Byard came into the game without a pass breakup or an interception this season. Had not touched a pass in the air. Period. Gets his first one of the season in a huge spot. Chiefs 4 possessions: 2 punts (both 3-and-outs), 1 INT, 1 TD.
