🇺🇸🇮🇱🇺🇦🕉Stevie Van Zandt☮️💙
He was certainly one of the highlights of that supposedly fallow period of Rock history. But it wasn't quite as fallow as the lazier historians like to think. We had, in no particular order: Dion, Gary US Bonds, Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Chubby Checker, Connie Francis, Ventures, Drifters, Del Shannon, Jive Five, Shirelles, Dovells, Elvis still having hits, Ben E. King, Ike & Tina, Gene Chandler, Curtis Lee, Little Eva, Marvelettes, Isley Brothers, Bobby Darin, Four Seasons, Gene Pitney, Chiffons, Stevie Wonder, Mary Wells, Angels, Martha & Vandellas, Ronettes, Marvin Gaye, Crystals, Ricky Nelson, Cookies, Major Lance, Lee Dorsey, Miracles, Impressions, Freddie Scott, and the Beach Boys had 6 two-sided hits before the Beatles arrived! So it wasn't too bad.

@StevieVanZandt July 18 is Dion DiMucci's birthday. Is it safe to say after the rock and roll pioneers faded and before 1964 he was creating the best music in that period? Was he then and still one of your all-time favorites? youtu.be/ih9oG8dm-iI

Hey guys, the 4-song Phoenix ’78 version wasn’t enough for me: one track was missing, and they weren’t even in the right order 😂 So the maniac that I am went looking for the 5th song and rebuilt the whole thing according to the official tracklist. And here it is: the finished version.🥳🥳

@BobTharin Do you have the opening where he speaks about Reagan being elected as a scary thing? Wasn't it the Phoenix concert?

U.S. top 40 for July 6, 1968. Top 5 features two Bacharach-David compositions and two instrumentals. And then “Here Comes the Judge” and “MacArthur Park” in the top 10. Good times.

June 5, 1968 Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy is assassinated in the kitchen pantry of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, after delivering a speech to his supporters following his imminent victory in the California primary. Former Giants and Rams great Rosey Grier — who had been a member of RFK's security detail throughout his campaign — disarmed and subdued the assailant, Sirhan Sirhan, following the fateful shots.
