In practical terms, even the mayor agrees that Male' itself is a single ward of Greater Male'. The ancient Henveiru, Maafannu, Galolhu and Mahchangolhi makes little sense now for administrative purposes.

When I was in UK, the public buses there only had a driver who also handled payments. You could pay in cash, tap your card or show your ticket. The process was quite efficient.
Here in Maldives, I see buses with a driver and 2 attendants. Are all these staff really necessary?

@DhivehiOne Of course probably in terms of cost, one political appointee's salary would probably be like 3-4 of one of these positions. It was just a thought that came to my mind after I saw a bus today. Just questioning why we do the things here the way we do them.

lots of locals esp women are struggling without jobs or income.

@Mabrook_MV Actually I also feel spoiled about fuel pump attendants. Hawks started their Hulhumale' Phase 2 petrol shed as a self-service only place. So I used to avoid that place in favour of the FSM fuel shed. But later Hawks also started using attendants, I guess due to market demand.

@dash8x Its extra jobs dished out. Take a look at the fueling pumps. In other countries, its self service and people are civilised enough to pay and not damage equipment while also adhering to safety 🤷🏻♂️

@shaffaafahmed For wheelchair users, they would lower the bus door and deploy a ramp. Usually the elderly people are able to get on and off rhe bus on their own.
