Garrison Matthews is another margins win just laying around, absolutely historical 3par/ftr intersection with proven 3pt accuracy (38 3p% on 1200+ 3s) is an immense O-TS booster and he combines it with elite dtov influence relative to mold

Payton Pritchard returning 427%, 508%, and 383% value on his contract in consecutive years. Arguably the best valued contract in the league…

What two teammates are you confident are a bad fit together (from watching, not from the data)?

@AJSUW34 It's well known that selfish players are largely less impactful than their talent would suggest

@databallr I love this point and I think it adds another dimension of "skill/competency" to the game. As a player Are you able to recognize the difference between your interests and the teams interests? Are you able to see how they overlap? Are you able to put your ego aside?

"There is a tension, peculiar to basketball, between the interests of the team and the interests of the individual. The game continually tempts the people who play it to do things that are not in the interest of the group. On the baseball field, it would be hard for a player to sacrifice his team’s interest for his own. Baseball is an individual sport masquerading as a team one: by doing what’s best for himself, the player nearly always also does what is best for his team. “There is no way to selfishly get across home plate,” as Morey puts it. “If instead of there being a lineup, I could muscle my way to the plate and hit every single time and damage the efficiency of the team — that would be the analogy. Manny Ramirez can’t take at-bats away from David Ortiz. We had a point guard in Boston who refused to pass the ball to a certain guy.” In football, the coach has so much control over who gets the ball that selfishness winds up being self-defeating. It is in basketball where the problems are most likely to be in the game — where the player, in his play, faces choices between maximizing his own perceived self-interest and winning. The choices are sufficiently complex that there is a fair chance he doesn’t fully grasp that he is making them." " - Michael Lewis in "The No Stats All-Star"

Actually, the 3 would have tied it. Either way was crazy. Love the relocation by #13 at the end to be in the perfect position to take the shot at the buzzer.

the cool functionality of the site is being easily able to access clips, and the surface area one can click to get there is contained in the very small timestamp text. its like you have to move your eyes to the left from where you were reading, move the mouse, and it interrupts the flow. also at least for me when i hover the timestamp, my cursor doesnt change, it stays the normal pointer, it should turn to the white hand. you do realize it's a link from the underlined text but the cursor should change (this happens to me sometimes too)

@grinding_tape feedback for your site, which is pretty awesome: make it so you can click the white text to take you to the play. having to click the timestamp is a little annoying for me.

Alright hear me out: What incoming rookie in the last 20 years has been more of the CP3 archetype than Kingston Flemings? Maybe Mike Conley? Who? Kingston has the very underrated two way turnover impact upside at the PG spot, he's very athletic and has a great midrange shot. 85 from the line too. With pretty good playmaking. These are the primary areas of the game that CP3 drove a ton of value in. Guys like Rubio, Conley, and Vanvleet all had sizable two way turnover impact and were all underrated players throughout their careers. However, these three players were all pretty weak midrange shooters so they never could sustain high usage efficiently. If they had Kingston's (or CP3's) middy they would have been much better offensively and would have made way more all star games. Achieving what those small guards did on both ends in the NBA is extremely difficult so I don't want to trivialize it more than I already am in this post. Obviously, he could end up being a bust, but I think the Hawks are a great spot for him to develop. His traits present a clear upside path. I'm not saying he's CP3! He doesn't need to be. Even half of CP3's RAPM would be a home run result. He does have a sizable amount of talent in the areas of the game that made CP3 an all time impactful player.
