Next #fullMoon on Tuesday 30 June, and it's a Strawberry 🍓 😋 !! Here's a #StrawberryMoon Q&A I did for @Flickr back in 2022: 16 Questions about One Photo with Epiphany Appleseed: Strawberry Supermoon Rising | Flickr Blog share.google/oF7kBMHqlA95JF…

@peachastro That has to be the worst graphic of all time! In the zoom-in neighbourhood view, why is the same distance circle marked with 50 ly on the top and 25 ly on the bottom? Why is Sirius at 8.6ly on the 50ly (or 75ly?) circle?

Apparently, according to various news articles of late there are multiple alien species visiting Earth. Nordics, Reptilians, Mantids, Plasmoids...the list goes on. It would have you think that Earth is our galaxy's equivalent of a cosmic Kwik Trip!
For context, here is a graphic illustrating the reality of our galaxy. For 99.9999% of our galaxy the Sun is just another silent dot among countless billions of others.
These aliens effectively won the cosmic lottery even managing to find Earth. The odds of us being found are infinitesimal - unless one of the nearby stars holds an advanced technological species (and every attempt over decades at detecting signals from such a species has drawn a solid blank.)
My first question to any of them would be how on Earth they managed to find us!

@peachastro And everything in the universe appears to be getting dimmer! 🤣

Barnard's Star racing through space over a seven year period
Barnard's Star is a faint red dwarf located just 6 light-years away in Ophiuchus. It holds the record for the highest proper motion of any known star, racing across the sky at over 10.3 arc seconds per year, first measured by E.E. Barnard in 1916. This rapid apparent motion makes it shift noticeably against the far more distant background stars.
In 2024–2025, astronomers confirmed four tiny sub-Earth-mass planets orbiting it (Barnard’s Star b, c, d, and e). With masses between 0.19 and 0.34 Earth masses, these rocky worlds orbit very close to their star on periods of just 3–7 days.
Detected via precise radial velocity data from ESPRESSO and MAROON-X, they are far too hot for life but represent an exciting breakthrough in finding planets around one of our nearest stellar neighbors. A true cosmic speedster with its own planetary system!

@timecaptales Man, I remember watching this as a kid and loving it. Now as an adult, gees, there's no way I would watch it again!
English

@NBACobwebs Man, given how dominating Shaq was in this footage, it's surprising he only put up 40pts! 😮
English

@setupspawn Hmm, I thought the Pro Calculator subscription would only give you the first digit of the answer.

@NBACobwebs Man, first time seeing Pippen and Schrempf playing for Portland.

Tough Guys (also known as Tough Guyz) is a raw, no-nonsense 1-on-1 fighting game for the Commodore 64! 🥊 Did you play it?
Released in 1991 on Golden Disk 64 magazine, this title was created by Henk Nieborg (using the SEUCK engine) and delivers old-school beat-’em-up action on your C64.
You step into the ring as a tough street fighter and go head-to-head with a series of brutal opponents. It features:
- Solid sprite-based combat
- Punches, kicks, and special moves
- A simple but addictive two-player mode
- That classic late-era C64 feel
The controls can feel a bit stiff by today’s standards (typical for many C64 fighters), but it still delivers pure retro brawling satisfaction. Perfect for a quick versus match with a friend or testing your reflexes against the CPU.
Who remembers throwing down in Tough Guys back in the day?

@CommodoreBlog @AmigaReposts @nyimski Aaaawwww, I wanted to see what would happen when all of the letters of "PUKE" would light up.

@awfulannouncing Maybe I'm being too nice here, but I'd give out an A to
Pels: Meyers & Daniels,
Trailblazers: Calabro & Hurd,
Bucks: Byington & Johnson,
76ers: Scott & Abdelnaby,
Pistons: Blaha & Kelser,
Bulls: Amin & King.
Not only informative, but entertaining as well!

@FunkyAppleTree @StormHour @ThePhotoHour @NikonEurope @UKNikon Wow! Is this your set up for all of your Moon photos?
English

@MuseumCommodore I suppose the character does look more italian than in the original.

When you buy a Commodore 64 game, Impossible Mission from TEMU!
Believe it or not, this is a legit C64 game cover. It's the Italian release of Impossible Mission published by Golden Software (an Italian budget/publisher label active in the mid-80s). They handled several C64 titles in Italy, often with their own distinct box art and branding.
I am not sure why they didn't keep the original game art 😂

@backandacross Great commentary as always Mark!
If Dermot Reeve is back on comms today, perhaps ask him to keep the microphone a bit further away from his breathing. It was clearly audible yesterday, even when the other commentator was talking!
English

@backandacross Should've asked Tom Lawes for his bat after the interview to make a quick film!

@AMAZlNGNATURE I think the green is just a cover that can be replaced - I can see the zipper on the front side!
