@AthleticsWeekly Once again he talks the talk. Unless he is paced to last 100 it probably will not happen, he lacks the ability to dictate from the front. My guess more self publicity

@keelyhodgkinson Maybe someone should enlighten Keely to the fact that England won their only World Cup in 66 with 3 players from West Ham

@kab604 @stevemagness It is not maybe so effective but for most HR and RPE are acceptable. The principles work the same

@stevemagness Thanks for the suggestion, looks like something I want! And sorry for this perhaps dumb question, but do you think it's valuable without measuring lactate levels? Find that a bit tricky with mostly during (ultra) trail running and almost never running flats/never track.

Runners: Go get this book. I don't say this lightly. But Marius Bakken has released a game changer of a book on training. It's fantastic. A book I wish I had decades ago. It just came out. Grab your copy today: amzn.to/4dFV1AU

800m World champ Keely Hodgkinson had the fastest 4x400 leg in the final. Split 50.10 by herself trying to chase down others, only an hour after winning the 800 in 1:55.3 Impressive double!

Epic finish of the men’s 3000m at the World Indoor Championships as Josh Kerr holds off Cole Hocker and hits the “Night Night” celebration in front of him.

Can we, as distance fans, appreciate how lucky we are right now? Between Kerr, Hocker, Ingebrigtsen et. al, we're blessed with super-talented athletes and some colorful personalities. Every global final is a banger, with so much to break down tactically. Fun time in the sport.

When Josh Kerr races Cole Hocker, you know you're going to get something good. The World Indoor 3000m final did not disappoint. Story from Torun on how Kerr outmaneuvered Hocker to take gold -- and what it showed about both of them as racers: letsrun.com/news/2026/03/h…

Cole Hocker seriously needs to study race tactics, which is a strange to say about a reigning Olympic and world champion.

Oh no. BBC has a studio for the evening sessions. 😩I like Keely and Jezza but I don't need half hour build ups to each race with endless waffle and replays and hind legs falling off donkeys while THERE IS STUFF HAPPENING IN THE ARENA!

@stevemagness @coachgambetta But Jakob, Erling trained like pros from a very young age and went against the the Norwegian protocol, yet they are role models

The key to Norway's sporting success?
"It takes everything we do in the US and does the opposite. We treat child athletes like budding professionals, prodigies train like the pros they look up to. In Norway, they let kids be kids. We don't keep score before age 12."

Just when the world couldn’t get more mental, you can now pay £45 for a 5k that the next day will have parkrun there for free. (Without laser tunnels, djs and medals though)

Understandable why Kerr would focus on a home Commonwealth Games in Scotland over Euros this year. But it is pretty wild that Josh Kerr, one of GB's greatest ever milers, could go his entire senior career without running at a European indoor or outdoor championships.
Mark Woods@markbritball

In today’s @Sunday_Post , Josh Kerr tells me how this is anything but an off-year and why world indoor and Commonwealth Games gold are in his sights (but not the European Champs).

AL didn't stumble on the idea of 100 miles a week. He also recognised it could me more or less. The key was time and principles.

Let me explain California to you. Everyone shares pictures like this - look how beautiful, worth the taxes! Look closer. Nobody on the beach. You know why? Because the beach sucks. Pretty in a picture. But the reality is that it's windy, wavy, cold, dark, rocky and just shit. And that's up and down the coast - and it's most of the pictures you see shared. Pretty landscape... But treacherous conditions. And that's basically California in a nutshell. Good for a quick visit because it's pretty - but not actually better than Florida.

Can we eliminate the use of inches & feet for field event measurements, and also the concept of a 55m indoor race?
